Naive questions: 1. Can I use the surface keyboard via Bluetooth as well with my Mac, Android Tablet and other Windows systems? 2. Does it have an own battery and can I charge it with a USB cable?
Background: I like the form factor and want to use for my Media PC/Beamer setup. Thanks!

You must not work for a living. It's 350 dollars for a bluetooth keyboard. It's nothing special. just way overpriced.
It is expensive, but it is certainly something special. This thing doesn't use AAA batteries, and show me a keyboard with a haptic trackpad. Just watch Best Buy, they always have open-box keyboards. That's how I got mine.

Actually people who work and travel for a living is exactly who the surface flex keyboard will appeal to, because it allows premium typing and haptic trackpad experience in a slim form factor no "Bluetooth keyboard" can touch. And that's also why it's so expensive, and why those people pay for it

That's one strategy. Antonline also got the sapphire pen+flex keyboard for $350
Though its worth mentioning, I consider surface keyboards basically consumables. They are essentially a nylon fabric, so if it gets relatively heavy use, staining it or getting dirt buildup is basically unavoidable over time, especially if its a light color like the platinum one. So another way to think about it, is to really ensure the Flex features are actually needed for your use case, that way if you need to replace it (assuming you care about cosmetics) its not a big deal.
for the other poster, if you want the value option and dont mind the slightly bigger size the better choice is the surface laptop, not the pro - and the $399 surface flex keyboard is still worse than the 13.8" surface laptop keyboard/trackpad IMO.

pretty sure there are no Bluetooth keyboards as slim as the surface flex that also have haptic trackpad
