How do they compare in the 'filter world'? How about against the OEM filter?
Not the same missing NSF 53 that the Orignal HAF-QIN has. Also NSF 401 > 372
These are certified to NSF 42 and 372; reduces chlorine, taste, and odor; made from lead free materials .
NSF 53 covers "health effects", such as reduction of lead, mercury, arsenic, VOCs, and certain parasites, herbicides, and certain other chemicals. NSF 53 filters actually remove these from the water if they are present.
NSF 372 means lead was not used in making the product, but does not mean anything about filtering lead out of the water. Specifically, the product itself must be made with less than 0.25% lead by weight.
NSF 401 covers 15 "emerging and incidental contaminants" not specifically covered in the other certifications, to include things like trace pharmaceuticals, detergents, flame retardants, and other chemicals that may or may not be found in drinking water.
