Is this mostly comical with no story line? I've noticed the children's shows today are fading away from being serious in any manor and having any storyline.

it has a story and it has some comedy. Its actually pretty good!
Really enjoyed this series. The latest movie was good but this show was better imo. Basically two animated movies, episodes have cliff hangers and they tell a larger story with individual episodes focusing on different characters. The animation style is vibrant and voice acting great. Some well known film actors do voices of the characters they encounter.
