Generally speaking the words Genuine and Amazon should not be used in the same sentence. I switched getting my filters from amazon sketchy to BestBuy subscribe and save on their store brand. At least is doesn't have some dirt and trash inside as some Genuine filters made in China have. IIRC their store brand is about $22 each ymmv

Yep, agreed. I've been burned with counterfeit Whirlpool directly from Amazon; also one time someone returned a used one as new by glueing back the foil seal.

I don't see 10% off promotion. It should YMMV.

Ooops yeah I forgot about getting the returns. I go to install it and water comes out of the "new" one after I took off the cap. Only way that can happen if it was used just like you said.

I have bought generic filters (which fit Samsung) on Amazon several times and haven't had any issues with those.

That MRSP price, if real, should be illegal. $45 per filter, c'mon Samsung.
I too used Amazon knock off brands before and they worked just fine.

The thing about using no name brands you might trust such as Best Buy Insignia, is they are cheap enough there is less incentive for the chinese to counterfeit them. Batteries are the worst offenders. At the very least and brandname filters I did buy at Homedepot or big box hoping they checked their suppliers and not just turn their heads to fakes like amazon.

Just got these. Pulled them out and used the verified thingy and it checks out. I don't need to replace mine yet, so hopefully they don't leak when I actually do install them.

There exists no bigger consumer gouging ripoff pricing than "GENUINE OEM water filters" being flogged by the appliance manufacturer, whether directly or from places like Amazon.

It's simply astonishing how those scum feel they can randomly price their Chinese crap. It is a virtual certainty that those "Two for just $90" filters cost the manufacturer about $2 to make in quantity, and the people flogging them (OEM appliance makers and retailers like Amazon) are paying about $5 each.

On my Whirlpool fridge, the water feed comes from a very good three stage filter under the sink that I use to filter ALL the drinking/cooking water in the kitchen, including the feed to the fridge. When the original filter that came with the fridge indicated it was time to change it, I just pulled it out. That bypassed the filter assembly.

I am confident that my three stage filter under the sink does a good enough job that I don't need to be ripped off by Whirlpool every six months with their outrageous filter pricing. The original cost of the under sink filter set was about $100 ten years ago, and since then I have replaced the three filters in it about once a year (or longer) for about $40-$50 and all the drinking/cooking water is filtered.

Just pay attention to the rate of water flow from the filter packs' output - when it's time to change the three internal filters, the flow will decrease noticeably.

What do you recommend to get for under the sink? I live in South Florida, so we get some hard water here.
