I had M1 Max 64G MBP before, and this machine is a great upgrade from there , despite with less RAM.
Community Reviews
This Mac Studio deal stands out for strong M4 Max performance at a Micro Center price that undercuts Apple education pricing. The 36GB memory and 512GB SSD configuration is enough for everyday use, development, and many creative workflows, and the machine still offers plenty of high speed expansion through four Thunderbolt 5 ports and two front USB C ports. The main concern is that the base memory and storage feel light for heavy pro work, especially local AI, large video projects, or workflows that really want 64GB to 128GB and more internal storage. A capable compact workstation if the listed configuration fits your workload.

$2500 for the 64/1TB matches their cheapest price from a while back... it has been $2700 for a long time now.
I agree the 36 is crap. I had 128 in my 2020 iMac, hit swap, now have 64 in my M1 Max, same thing.... although less often. I need 96 or 128 to avoid it. Thankfully its just easier -- and cheaper -- to restart...
