Starlink Mini is a compact satellite internet kit that shines for camping, RVs, truck campers, road trips, and backup home internet. It supports multiple devices, has an integrated router, and can run on AC, 12 volt or USB C power, with easy setup and low power draw. Real world reports include smooth YouTube at 360p, 150 to 250 Mbps in a truck camper, and usable gaming latency around 40 ms. The main caveat is plan flexibility, since pause mode is now a $5 standby option with very slow low speed data and possible limits after long inactivity. It is a strong fit when portable internet matters more than full home service.

  • Truck campers who want reliable remote internet, because it delivered a full week of stable service with 150-250 Mbps speeds and easy setup.

  • Road-trippers using a vehicle-mounted setup, because it can work through a sunroof and stay usable on remote trips and in national parks.

  • Campers who need occasional home-backup internet, because it has already been used successfully when fiber service went down.

  • People gaming in a camper, because it can hold around 40 ms ping.

  • People wanting to stream video on the $5 standby mode, because the low-speed connection is too slow for streaming.

  • Drivers expecting usable internet while moving, because the moving-use setup reportedly works better on the higher-performance version.

  • Heavy multitaskers connecting lots of devices, because more connected devices burn through data faster and can force a higher-tier plan.

Will this work with multiple devices connected and streaming at once? Say a tv streaming and several iPads ? Just curious if the device or the data plan decide that?
Yes it will support multiple devices connected on at the same time. From what I understand the Mini has an integrated router. I'm not sure if the larger home units have a router built-in. This is regardless of your data plan, obviously the more devices you have on the more faster you'd run out of data and would need the upper tier.

This is a great deal. I bought mine for $299 (IIRC) last BF. My use case is our truck camper. It's nice to come back after a long day of activities and just throw on a movie. We used it for a full week in Moab since my wife works remotely and it worked without any hiccups. The speeds are insanely good and consistent as well. I probably get around 150-250Mbps on most days. For months that we won't use it as much I change to the 50MB or Standby plan. It sips power even on AC and I think if you have 100W 12V outpost you can run it on DC. I don't believe it likes anything under 100W on the 12V due to insufficient power and voltage drops which could ruin the unit. It's been rock solid, easy to use and setup, and the throughput is excellent. If you have a use case for one I'd definitely recommend.

If I work remotely, can I use this to travel and get internet where it's spotty. I usually hotspot but the signal on my phone isn't always the best.

Anyone try switching between roam and residential plans with this model? Conflicting answers when I Google it.

I thought the 5Mbps Standby plan would be slow too. But recently I accidentally connected to its WiFi while working, and supprisingly it worked fine without me realizing it. My Mini was even on the dash of my car, under a windshield cover.
Wow 5mbps would be so nice for 5$. Too bad it's 500 kbps

I was going for it. I tried ShopMyExchange, but the Starlink Mini isn't showing up. In fact, no Starlink shows up at all. Apparently no longer available through AAFES

This works very well through a sunroof, by the way. Get a small battery pack and a usb-c plug for it. I've used it in national parks, on remote road trips, etc. It's an amazing product at this price. It also serves as a backup in case our home fiber goes down. We've already used it twice for this purpose. At this price, basically everyone should have one IMO, lol.

I think the official answer is yes, sorta, but if you want to use it while moving, the hi performance one supposedly works better. i believe.
