If you have Costco and really want to milk this:

Buy $200 of Uber gift cards from Costco for $159.98 (the max they will sell you in a 2 week period)
Select this Starlink mini in Uber Eats from Best buy. Total charge, including tax and delivery, is $247.49 plus tip
If you order your Uber Eats delivery in advance (like for delivery tomorrow), I believe they'll give you another $2 off, so now $245.49
$200 of that will only cost you $159.98 because of the gift cards. Plus the remaining $45.49. That's $205.47 out of pocket (including tax but not including tip) compared to purchasing direct from Best Buy for $250.04 (including tax, and no tip needed).
Your numbers will be a little different due to tax differences, but it's a decent savings.
Also check your Uber Eats account for any retail promotions. When I bought my Starlink through this method a couple months ago, I also had a $40 off retail promo in there too.

Cheaper at home depot $229 and no tax going through shopmyexchange.com for those who have an account.

It's a monthly plan with no minimum plan length, but with a caveat:

Starlink replaced its pause feature with a $5 / month "standby" mode which has unlimited low speed data. In practice though the "low speed" data is too slow to use for things like streaming video, even at low quality. You can always just cancel the plan when you don't need it, as it is billed month-to-month, but if you do this they have no guarantees you'll be able to sign up again. So I would consider it a month-to-month plan with a $5 / month fee for pausing service ("standby mode").

Does this one work on-the-go for things like camper vans and RVs?

Can you only activate the plan occasionally when needed or is there a minimum plan length?

I was going for it. I tried ShopMyExchange, but the Starlink Mini isn't showing up. In fact, no Starlink shows up at all. Apparently no longer available through AAFES

You know, I looked at the bandwidth requirements and thought I could, but in practice even trying to do that was not a good experience. Experience may vary though.

I had a Starlink email a week or two ago offering to gift existing (I started as a beta user) with a free mini. Unfortunately, there were several caveats. I reported to my wife that we could turn it on, pay the surcharge, and then turn it off. I'm not sure that is a true analysis, and I am reluctant to believe what the company reports. She is as well. We chose to ignore the offer.

Low speed data for $5/month as a permanent solution is very appealing to me but before buying it, researched it a bit more and turned out to be too good to be true.
"Customers pausing with Standby Mode for more than 12 consecutive months may, at Starlink's discretion, (i) be required to pay a fee or upgrade to a different Service plan, or (ii) be only able to connect to the internet to access their Starlink account." -Starlink.com
