This has been intermittently in and out of stock starting about 2 weeks ago for a few days and now. It will probably go in and out, but hard to replicate. Some users report success checking out via browser. I have not been successful with the app.
Personal recommendation for shell is the skull&co https://www.amazon.com/Skull-Co-G...0CBV598FJ/
Note, don't worry about getting their case, the shell will fit in the case that comes with the steam deck, if any thing get the bundle for $5 extra, that comes with a clip on front cover, it won't fit in a case but works great instead of a case if you are already carrying the deck in a back pack.

Valve's Steam Deck is one of those manufacturer refurbs that are literally just as good as new. Same up there with Apple and Bose in terms of trusted quality. And their support is equally as good.
And furthermore, everything you need to get started is in the box. It comes with a case, storage, a power supply, cleaning cloth, etc. (just add games).
And they're pretty decent accessories too -- I know many people who haven't bought a single extra for the device, and they're genuinely happy with it.
My 2 cents -- if you want to take it to the next level, there are a few things you CAN add to it (although not required in any way):
- extra 512gb MicroSD card for additional storage. (don't buy these from Amazon -- get them from Walmart/Bestbuy/BHphoto/etc).
- dbrand's Killswich case + kickstand + front cover. This is a premium luxury case for the device...with excellent grip and doesn't increase thermals like a silicone slipcover does. I believe WurstBuy sells dbrand, so they might have a demo on display -- the texture of their grip is something entirely different. I deeply prefer it (and wish it was on ALL my devices), but it's not everyone's jam.
- your own USB-C PD power supply. I have my own 120w power supply + 100w cable which I use for a laptop, phone, other accessories, etc. The one included is entirely fine, but I like my own where the cable detaches (and I can have a 10ft braided cable).
