It all depends on your use case but this is more powerful than an air so spec wise it's a win.

If you're not planning on doing heavy duty work on the ipad (like photo or video editing), you don't need to spend more on the pro. Also, the ipad can't be used as the primary display for a mac mini, only a second screen.

I'd say it's a viable solution for any of the desktop Macs. It ends up being more annoying on the MacBooks, though. Storage is very expensive on the M4 Pros.

No, I was tired of messing with Best Buy. I wasted about 20 minutes chatting with CS for nothing. I ended up getting one at Costco for $499. I feel better about their CS and it looks like there's a two-year warranty included.
