two cheap alternative options :
* buy 3rd party SSD kit and manually upgrade (risk of loss warranty?)
* external nvme SSD is also very fast now days.
And this "little apple box" will run circles around that laptop at higher resolutions when gaming and still be usable in a couple years.

i ran into that issue with mine as well, it would drop my speed to ~ 90/100 when it should be about 250/250
the fix - to use a 90-degree USB-C adapter and run the USB-C cable for my hub a different way. now i am at 220/200. good enough. i have the thing tucked away under a monitor stand. i guess all it takes is some weird EMI thing to be going on under there and it destroys the signal.
