Not the same handheld but I pre-ordered the RG DS for $91 out the door using code AEUS20 ($20 off $100). I think I had $3 in collected discounts so without that $94-ish with tax.

Really like the design of the DS but seems like they didn't outfit it with the right CPU. I will wait for gen 2 and see if others experience a hinge issue.

For the hinge, they apparently copied Nintendo's proven design. Also there are 4 points of contact for the 2 halves, vs the Flip where it was just 2. Not to mention....I'm 99% of those hinge units were early models and purportedly only impacted the gray. Those early failures have been endlessly rehashed though.

Regarding the CPU, they either could have kept the CPU at NDS levels to maintain the $100 price point or bumped it to a T620 or T820 but then it would have costed $150 at launch, and still not been great for the 3DS. However at $150, there is a million other devices (many better) at that point, so not sure the market would have been there. Any better CPU then that, and then you might as well buy a Thor.

FWIW, my plan for the device is DS and down. Something I feel it should (on paper) handle nicely.

It's anbernic, the hinge will more than likely not be an issue. You're correct on the specs however

Yeah there's no way to put the T820 in this without a big old fan blowing on it. It's really a letdown.

It's probably going to be an issue on heavier DS titles like Golden Sun Dark Dawn.

I figure if it can handle 95% of DS games (and below) it should be pretty darn cool for $90. Especially if I also get my $33-ish CB from that other website we're not allowed to mention.

FWIW, I can't get every single DS game to play on my RG476H or my old RP4Pro. Some games just don't like to emulate.

I'm waiting for Golden Sun Dark Dawn to eat this chip for breakfast
