Prices are going up just like ram been blowing up. SSD's are next and storage in general thanks to AI.

Includes HDDs, AI companies are buying up all the production time so all these products are being put on pause, less supply, more demand, prices go up.

These are not NAS drives at all. The power on spec is only 2400 hrs/year which is only 100 days. A NAS running 24/7 like majority do are not the target for this drive at all.

AI is in a bubble, but its in a hardware bubble now more than anything and that will eventually break.

Either AI wont be as useful or a new breakthrough will come through making our current ram/sdd/hdd/cpu requirements obsolete and youll see a flood of this stuff come available cheap.

While true one day hdd will considered obsolete and we will only have ssd. Like how you don't see tape drives around anymore except for niche use cases
Patently false, tape is widely used for backups in the enterprise world. Just because it's not commonplace in the consumer sphere doesn't mean it's obsolete. Also, remember kids, RAID is not a backup....

I remember a couple of years ago when 8tb was ~$120 and that was a deal. This is pretty great, almost $10/1tb!

Failure rate was WAY higher....
Anecdotal evidence doesn't help anyone, they sell millions of these every year.

Worst drive I ever bought were baraccuda computes. Failure rate was WAY higher than WD reds for me. My Reds havent died in years. One was DOA though. But these segates can die in a year under normal use. Don't put anything you care on a single source of failure, anyway. Always have a backup.
Agreed. I've lost data twice with Seagate drives. Never had a failure with WD. Maybe anecdotal, but getting burned twice is hard to overcome.

Newegg shipped my order with no protection whatsoever - a naked hard disk in a brown paper bag. It arrived with a dent.

Bandwagon fallacy doesn't help anyone. They could sell a billion and the error rate would be the same.

2.79% failure rate on this model seagate vs .57% failure rate on WD of similar storage size.

This is a good deal. Thanks OP.
Is the 2 yr warranty accurate on the Newegg site? I thought exos have 5 yrs warranty.

These are not Exos.
