That makes no sense. How do you expect a 24/7 recording when the sun doesn't even come out 24/7? And even if the sun is out 24/7, there's no way that small solar panel can continuously power the camera given the small energy conversion rate..🤨

For me I had hoped that 24/7 continuous recording was a standard feature for solar cams but not all of them have it so make sure your model has that if you need it and I do like the tapo app. I have c660 kit and c402 kit.

It's just not possible for recording 24/7 for any battery operated camera even with that tiny solar panel. Look for hard wiring if you need 24/7.

Looks like TP-Link is pushing out more Tapo devices than Kasa now, which means Kasa brand might be phased out soon.

Why on earth would you think a solar cam can support 24/7 recording?

If you live near the sun then yes, no issues at all 24/7 because it will continuously charge for you.

I have some Kasa smart plugs and they literally can't be added to the Kasa app - when I tried it told me to go add them in the Tapo app instead. TL;DR: I agree.

I live near the sun here in AZ. Hate to break it to you but we kinda don't see it shining overnight..

I have a stack of Tapo cams. If you're looking for a good quality indoor cam the C120 is amazing. Got one of mine last year with a $15.99 coupon from the seller "Network Giant" on A, they randomly go on deep discount. I have a couple looking outside from behind windows and while that isn't optimal for nightvision due to reflection the video quality and the AI system they use is superb. Like jaw droppingly clear with excellent low light sensitivity. They support RTSP too.

Thanks! I had no idea there were solar powered cameras that could do 24/7. I was invested in Eufy solar cameras but I wanted to switch over to Tapo because my Eufys were unreliable.
I bought the C460 kit

It's the same; these Eufy cameras (indoor and solar-powered) disappointed me after only a few weeks of use.

For anyone wondering, the two tapo battery 4k cameras that support the 24/7 recording mode do so by recording at up to 1 frame per second (you can set longer intervals as well, such as 1 frame every 5 seconds) until an event is detected, then it kicks onto full normal fps recording.

i think people are referring that his solar model does not do 24/7 recording even if you connect it via an ac adapter (usb c plug) instead of the solar panel.. which i think tplink should provide the feature...
