My kids use a PC for homework, web surfing, Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft. Any other games they play on the XBox or PS5. Is this a good PC for those uses? The price is definitely attractive.

This should be a very fine PC for that. The MSI Aegis tend to get slightly better component reviews than than most IBuyPower and others. Also most desktops w/o a dGPU are running close to $500 so it's only about $150 for the dGPU. It's not the most powerful dGPU but it comes with a 650w Gold PSU, so in the future when you want to upgrade to a better graphics card, it should be a somewhat simple upgrade.

Yeah it will be fine. I actually would say to avoid this PC for gaming unless its for the Kids or like a 2nd pc. its perfect for kids.

But tell the kids that its not the greatest gaming PC, its a starter gaming PC. (100% fine for the games they play, better then console) tell them it could be better. and say if they want to make it better they have to help you and tell you what you need to do to upgrade it in the future you'll help them do it as a birthday present or something. it gets them to teach them selves about computers very early giving them a foundation of technology most kids wont have. (Help them not get scammed in the future, save money, repair things and maybe even a future career path). it will be expensive so a Xmas or birthday thing lol

Ram (1 x 16gb stick) and GPU (9060 xt 16gb '$350' for 1080p monitor) are the things you'd want to upgrade. and the GPU needs to work within the constraints of the Power Supply and ensuring the GPU will fit in the physical case. for ram you can just order the same model that comes with the PC. just wait more then a year from now lol ram prices are going crazy right now lol (Demand from AI data centers, wont last forever) and you can google more things how to do it. those upgrades are pretty easy especially adding ram. ram should cost about $50 to 60 after prices stabilize

Son is just looking for something capable of playing Marvel Rivals without dropping upwards of $2k. Seems like this would meet the recommended requirements.

As long as it handles 1080p with decent frame rates, he will be happy. He is currently running a Intel Pentium with integrated graphics that we built 8 years ago for Minecraft.

Worth pulling the trigger?

Yes this system should be fine for playing something like Marvel Rivals. Big upgrade graphically from integrated graphics.

This will run it at over 60 fps at 1080p, so if that's your goal then absolutely go for it. It's end-of-life for the motherboard socket and the power supply is not primed for too much of an upgrade path. So upgrade outlook is a little weak and you're not going to get console-like longevity out of it, but it'll suffice for a while. I would rather see a 5060 for this money, that's a significantly faster card even with the same 8gb of VRAM - which in reality means upgrading later - but I think you'll end up spending at least $100 more on a 5060 machine

How does this compare to the microcenter deal for 650? I am also thinking of using this for gaming for kids and my occasional gaming use? https://slickdeals.net/f/18779278

The CPU and GPU (video) are pretty comparable, however, the MSI build has a few things slightly better - an MSI branded video card with GDDR7 VRAM, PSU 650W GOLD, USB-C, 3 Display Ports. MSI also gives you 30 days for return, whereas MicroCenter only 15 days.

Thanks - His budget was $600, but I can always kick in some extra if it gives him a better upgrade path.

This is supposed to be available at 9am tomorrow: https://slickdeals.net/f/18800080-11-13-unlocks-at-9am-pt-abs-flux-ii-aqua-gaming-pc-windows-11-core-i5-14400f-rtx-5060-32gb-ddr4-3200mhz-1tb-m-2-nvme-ssd-649-99?attrsrc=JFYCarousel%3APosition%3A1%7CJFYCarousel%3AType%3Athread&src=jfy_carousel

Very little, if any, performance difference between DDR4 and DDR5 in gaming. The linked deal has double the ram which will make a bigger difference.

Let's see...
CPU $140
Mobo $70
Case $60
PSU $60
RTX 5050 $230
So... About $560 in parts before drive and RAM which are crazy right now. You'd be hard pressed to build your own at this performance level for the price.

Except, that Newegg doorbuster is awesome if you can snag it.

While quite a bit older the 7600 is a faster gpu. Newegg has a doorbuster system for 650 today that is nicer for 650. Has a 8gb. 5060 and 32gb ram. Nice upgrade.
