I've been watching the price for months and plan on buying it around Black Friday timeframe. What kind of filament do I need to start watching for as well (I'm assuming there are good ones and crummy ones)? Anything else I should look for?
This will be my first 3D printer.

I bought one for $254 and another for $215. I would buy until it's sub $230. I did return the $254 one and sold the $215 one on fb along with my ad5m and bought two p1s Instead.

If you want cheap, wait for kingroon from aliexpress for $6/kg for 10kg. Better quality tends to be elegoo Sunlu, creality. Upper level is like poly maker and bambu..

but go PLA for ease of use.. or PETG.

My Anycubic Kobra S1 is driving me nut with its unreliable ACE Pro. I hope the simpler design of this machine would make it more reliable than the S1.

There was a better deal yesterday, probably will happen again, so I'd say probably wait till at least Black Friday. We've been discussing it over in this thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/18723034-flashforge-ad5x-multi-color-3d-printer-w-auto-leveling-control-235-50-free-s-h.
But long story short, yesterday it was a bit cheaper to start + same coupon + $30 paypal discount + 30% cashback from the R site we can't discuss here. After everything people, myself included, were able to get it for ~$155 (though personally I'm still waiting on the cashback to appear; other ppl were successful with though so I'm sure I'll get it sorted eventually)
