It's a useful adapter when logging into servers and switches.

The link is for vulnerabilities in a Wavlink AC3000 wireless router. I don't see how they apply to peripheral NICs?

Thats for a router...
If you are getting hacked via your USB ethernet you got bigger issues. All 2.5G usb ethernet use the same Realtek chip anyways.

SDers deserve to know about the company's past practices before deciding to purchase. I'd rather make an informed decision, rather than one just solely based on price.

I got this USB adapter to make use with Tmobile's Jextream hotspot, and it doesn't work. Per online search, this Hotspot does not support Usb-C to Ethernet adapters. I've read some people had a better luck, However, for them only data worked, not the Power charge port to charge the Hotspot.

Based on the reviews, it seems that if you receive a working one, it is good, but many have received non-working ones. So it isnt worth my time....

The two I got are working great. I put a USB-C extension cable on them, velcro'd the network and power cables [source power is a 100W USB-C charger] behind my couch and only have the one cable coming up, so, it ultimately looks no worse than just the laptop power cable did before, but, I get the full benefit of 2.5Gb networking without a lot of cables being visible.

FWIW, it also passes through charging properly for non-networked devices as well.
It works with my older Intel Macbook [with 2.5Gb networking], random Dell laptops [with 2.5Gb networking], android phones [with 2.5Gb networking], random USB devices that just need charging [without networking].
All in all, I'm very happy and am picking up two more even though the price has gone up a bit.
