It won't work for everything but 10 ms UPS is really solid for most things.

yes, that is one area where they short-change folks who upgrade to the new gen 2 model. the original came with 1056 wh battery, and this new is about 3% less at only 1024 wh.

Depends what you want and need it for. This is more portable but the other can power more times.

This or a different product? I have a 3-6 hour drive about a once a month and one of my passengers needs to keep using their computer during the drive.

I can tell you 10ms has worked on all my network equipment. I have two for 2 different areas. The TOU feature is great because it does save money.

Computer or laptop?

Depending on the laptop, there are some 60w cigarette lighter plugs that would power laptops. On the expensive end, Dell has one linked below:

EDIT:
for a computer desktop tower + 1 monitor, need to confirm what the consumption of the computer & monitor will be and do the math. If it's a gaming computer of sorts, the c1000 may be able to power it for ~30 mins. If it's a non-gaming computer, maybe an hour.

Laptop, I was using a cigarette lighter invertor but it was unreliable and unfortunately the computer does not support USB C charging. If it did, it would be a moot point.

Also, I have an electric car so electricity I use to charge the computer is only taking away from range (however small that impact)

Yah, taking from an electric car isn't ideal.

Unless it's a gaming laptop, I think the capacity of this battery (1KWh) should be enough for 3-4hrs.

I'm not good at math, nor am I an expert on this subject but my attempt at calculating::
- a normal laptop may use 100 watts of electricity; some use less, some use more.
- in 4 hours, the laptop may use about 400W
- since this portable power station has 1024Wh, it should power the laptop for 4hrs.
- note: there are efficiency losses as power is used by the inverter/transferred so you won't have exactly 1024Wh to use.
- just like your electric car, you wont want to go from 100% state of charge to 0% so this size is great for your use case since you may be able to charge the power station at 90% and after using, still have ~40%.

Hope this helps.

The problem is you don't know until you find out. I know that certain routers certain computers a certain components may or may not work with a 10 ms delay, or they may.
I had a file server for torrenting. You have to have a UPS on a file server because an unexpected shutdown would take hours of rebuilding the raid drives. That had to be an effectively instant instantaneous transfer to avoid data corruption. I would never chance 10 ms on that.

Exactly.

Occasionally my 5-7ms APC UPS can cause my network gear to cause POE on the switch to power cycle which of course power cycles all of the devices that are being powered by POE.

Doesn't happen all the time, but happens enough that I'd be concerned with 10ms. Next UPS will be an 'online' UPS.
