Your couches, seriously. I have a couch that is made of fabric (not microfiber). It "pills" every now and then, and this type of product shaves it right off. There are probably more legit products for this purpose, but it does work for this and your clothes of course (socks especially).

Every time I use this, I make a hole in the garment.
I've had this for eight years, used it on tons of mostly wool products, and I've only made one tiny little snag that whole time. If you make sure the fabric is flat and you're slow and careful, you're not going to make holes in your stuff.

Assuming your shaver isn't defective, you're probably pressing down too hard. Skim it lightly across the top of smoothed out, not bunched fabric. It doesn't require much pressure to work.

Yup, that's what it is. Starting light, everything is good till the end boom, a hole.
