K36 is one of the many clones of R36S (https://handhelds.wiki/R36S_Clones). If you only want ArkOS for emulation or PortMaster games, it's a fine clone with decent community support (https://github.com/lcdyk0517/arkos4clone/).

If you also want to play around Android and Desktop Linux, get the real R36S for ~$22.

Depends on what you want to do. For $20 it might be worth a flyer. Most people looking for a entry vertical handheld to play up to PS1 end up with either a:

* Miyoo Mini Plus

* Anbernic RG-35XX

* TrimUI Brick

You can usually find them on AliExpress for around $40. But they all have a pretty healthy community building and supporting firmware for their respective devices.

I really want this for no good reason. I've already had 3-4 other handhelds that were functionally the same. I'd likely play it twice, completely change all the games on it, then get bored, go back to my existing XU20 and RG476H, then put this on eBay for $15+ more than I paid.

LOL, the circle of life

As long as you keep on having a profit at the end even if it's only $10 it's still profit you can still enjoy the cycle

I didn't realize that the R36S was capable of installing Android on it. I only have ArkOS installed on mine.

What's the lowest priced unit that actually would support ds/3ds?

I'm assuming also this would be more than enough for GBA and Genesis

You can put ds or 3ds as a filter on this site to sort handhelds by console playable.You can also filter by price/budget. It looks like you have to start at "budget" and higher for 3ds emulations but if you want decent emulation you should step up to "mid-range".

Can't use that code for some reason. "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed"
