I'm on my second one of these. The first one lasted about 4 years with pretty heavy use. Something minor broke on it (don't remember what it was right now), but when I tried to get the part to repair it, kobalt ended up honoring a full replacement with the newer one. I'll never go back to a gas chainsaw.

Excellent and very powerful chainsaw, made by Greenworks. All recent Greenworks battery deals should work nicely in this (after small mod)

My 24 volt one just recently broke right at 4 years. I need to return it, but was a great tool.

To use the Greenworks battery in Kobalt tools you need to widen one set of grooves on the sides of the Greenworks battery. I used a router to do it and it was easy. I've been using it for a couple of years now with no problem. I think that there is a YouTube video on how to do it.

Just a caution. I modded the chainsaw instead of the battery. Worked out (eventually), but in the process I accidentally sliced a ribbon cable that runs on the side of the battery slot in the chainsaw. Had to open up the chainsaw and rebuild the ribbon cable to fix my mess up. Afterwards worked like a charm. Who would have thought there would be a ribbon cable in such a small side section of the chainsaw compartment....

Seems like a good deal for the tool. How big a battery do you need to get decent use? The batteries appear to be quite expensive

This is the oldest model saw, not super powerful, it will cut a tree, however, dewalt, milwaukee, echo, or stihl electric saws will outperform. Had several issues with throwing chains and having to constantly adjust tension. Bought a new bar and chain and its fixed.

If you want electric and price isnt a huge concern, id shop elsewhere. If you have batteries and need if you yardwork, its a great saw.

If you need a large battery, they have a deal on the saw with a 5 ah battery, too, for $250

Love this saw. Have used it often on cutting decent sized pines and red cedars on east coast.

I've used my brother in laws DEWALT comparable saw and did not like former factor/hold etc.

This saw is nice too -- comes with tool that slides inside handle so you can loosen / tighten / fix chain when out and about

I have one of these and it's perfect for the 3-4 trees I end up cutting up each year as well as the odd limbs I need to cut off.

It's not as good as a sthil gas chainsaw but I'm not spending 6 hours in the woods cutting down trees.

I leg you already have an of the Kobalt 80v batteries then this is a great buy.

5-year warranty wow!
Low-kickback bar and chain reduce kickback force and frequency...some have had problems keeping the chain on the bar and after replacing bar and chain the issue disappeared

Seeing you own this saw I'll ask if you have had the notorious chain problem?
