The forum user's claim is technically incorrect, outdated, and misunderstands gaming workloads.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is not "too weak" for an RTX 5080.
It will, in fact, outperform the Intel i9-14900KF in most games, especially at high framerates and high-end GPU configurations.
If your main use case is gaming — especially with an RTX 5080 — the 9800X3D is the superior choice.
If you also do heavy workstation loads (Blender, code compiling, video rendering), then:
Intel = stronger multithread
X3D = better gaming

How is Ryzen 7 9800X3D better for gaming when UserBenchmarks shows Intel i9-14900KF beats it?
I remember the days when Ryzen was better for multitasking with more cores than Intel, but being worse for gaming since games couldn't utilize the extra cores.
So confident and also wrong. A simple internet search shows one study that decisively indicates the Ryzen is overall better for gaming performance

But, I hate Micro Center doesn't ship. My closest store with this in stock would take me 6+ hrs round trip...

Previous Gaming desktop is/was a aprox 5yr old CyberPowerPC from BestBuy which I have upgraded and toyed with replacement of MB, PSU, GPU,adding ram ect... over the past years and it's Config current is = MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI (User upgraded), Ryzen 9 5900x (User Upgraded), Sapphire RX 6700XT (User Upgraded), and 64GB DDR4 Ram (User Upgraded)...
At this point I was ready to jump from DDR4 to a DDR5 build and seen this MicroCenter offer (albiet OpenBox) which basically saved me another $200 and still warrantied the same. Probably had well over $1k in the past 5yrs additional invested into my (now prior or soon to be) CyberPowerPC frankstein build, hoping I made a wise decision. I guess time will tell. 😮
