Public Lands (owned by Dick's Sporting Goods) has the Black and Forest Green colors of the Fjallraven Nuuk Parka on sale for $150 off. I also signed up for text alerts and they instantly sent me a 15% off coupon code, so I actually paid less than $300.
Yes, the reviews online are mostly right about the zipper. It's "backwards" (European) so it zips from the left side, and it's a bit finicky. It's also somewhat bulky/heavy and definitely NOT packable. But sub-$300 for one of the warmest jackets you can buy is too good for me to pass up.
It says limited stock (obviously) but as of writing they have all sizes of both colors except for the XXL in black.

Cons: The Euro zipper is annoying particularly if you're trying to zip it up with cold hands. The jacket is surprising heavy, weight wise, if you pick it up in your hand but it's surprisingly not weighty when wearing it. Compared to the McMurdo though it's not nearly as bulky.

The hood is minimally adjustable with a velcro strap on the back. The hood is pretty big width wise and sits like a monk's hood when I use it not with the jacket not fully zipped. If the weather is nasty you can zip it up fully and covers everything but your face. You end up looking like the arctic explorers of yore and are well protected from the elements.
That said, I actually went and got the jacket and my ski helmet and tested it lol. I was able to get the hood on with the helmet on. I've never used this jacket for skiing though. It certainly could be used for skiing but it's definitely not a typical ski jacket. If you're looking for something primarily for skiing this type of jacket probably isn't what you'd want.
