I made one out of 4" PVC tubing for a wider grip and it cost more than this in materials!

This will give you a handful of blisters.
...maybe for a keyboard warrior with soft hands. Any man with avg hands will be fine. If you're getting blisters drop the weight and do more reps. & other commenter mentioning tennis elbow? Lol we don't care about your excuses.

Yeah, you could just tie the rope to your dumbbell and not use the plate loader.
Probably cheaper to use stuff around your house in that case, since I think the only appeal for this product is the ability for the plates to lay flat for better stacking/range when using larger plates.

Great way to get tennis elbow in both arms, at the same time!
wait .. what. either using too much weight or poor form and its ok to start low weight and let those forearms burn....

Probably where I made a poor choice. Too much weight.True story, finishing a workout with this lead to tennis elbow and took close to a year to correct it.

I made one of these with a stick and a rope 30 years ago in high school. It still works great. For $10 it might be ok but I'm not sure about these grips - 1 will they hold up 2 they look really small (1.1")
same. made one after i saw a picture of Bruce Lee using a home made one with just a 1" stick, rope, tied to a weight.

Everyone is taking a dump on you for the tennis elbow comment, but I can relate. I thought I had some tendonitis in my elbow for years and it stumped a physical therapist -- I had shooting pain from doing any tricep or forearm heavy exercises. A personal trainer recommended some simple forearm extensor stretches, and doing them consistently finally let me work out pain free. I just had incredibly tight forearms that need constant stretching.
