This Verizon iPhone 16 Pro deal is mainly about a low monthly device payment paired with a $500 Walmart eGift Card, but the real value depends on navigating the payoff and cancellation steps. In store, the gift card often arrives within minutes or hours, and Verizon phones are supposed to auto unlock after 60 days. The main friction is that payoff access can be blocked for about 30 days, some stores only accept cash, and the line still needs separate cancellation. Sales tax is due on the full amount, and the gift card timing can be delayed on online orders.

Common Questions (5)

  • The offer requires installment activation on an eligible AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile plan, and the gift card is sent by email. In-store purchases usually get it within minutes to 24 hours after activation, while online orders can take up to about 21-25 days after shipment.

  • Yes, but the payoff process is inconsistent: some buyers were able to pay off at a Verizon corporate store or by calling 611, while others were told to wait 30 days or that only corporate stores could do it. After payoff, the line can be canceled through Verizon chat or customer service, but you may still need to push for prorated charges and fee credits.

  • Yes. Verizon's policy says phones purchased from Verizon or an authorized retailer are locked for 60 days after purchase or activation, then automatically unlock unless the device is stolen or fraudulent. Several buyers also reported the phone showing unlocked around day 60 without needing a separate unlock code.

  • The gift card is issued by Walmart after the purchase is completed, so canceling the carrier line does not appear to void the card by itself. The bigger risk is paying off the phone too early or failing to complete the installment activation, which can prevent the promotion from applying.

  • The phone price varies by storage, with examples like $24.98/month for 128GB and $27.75/month for 256GB over 36 months. A common 256GB total is about $1,099.08 before tax and activation, so after the $500 Walmart eGift Card the effective device cost is roughly $600 plus tax and fees.

Oh boy. the deal seems YMMV as hell at the moment. Since the return the phone back in Walmart is a hassle as well, idk...

Thanks. Do you know whether Tmobile requres addng a new line, or upgrading device also works without changing plan.
If not, the process is the same? purchase phone, payoff device, cancel plan?
Anything different we need to consider for Tmobile?
TIA
wondering the same as tmo customer

Looks like it's not easy to pay off and unlock the phone with Verizon. My phone is shipped but not delivered so can I just reject the delivery so that it will be cancelled automatically? Or should I still goto Verizon store ?

Yes, only correction is pay off the phone at store in cash and then call customer service to cancel the line.
for step 1 instead of ordering online can i buy from store and follow the remaining step .. will that work ??
buy in store -> activate -> go to verizon store and pay off -> cancel line -> wait 60 days for unlock ???

Not easy to pay it off at the store at the very least. Tried in two stores. Didn't make it.

Just did, quite easy, from online chat, ask pay off, they will send you a link "Installment Plan Details", from there you can pay off immediately. Less than a minute
