This Verizon iPhone 16 Pro deal is mainly about a low monthly device payment paired with a $500 Walmart eGift Card, but the real value depends on navigating the payoff and cancellation steps. In store, the gift card often arrives within minutes or hours, and Verizon phones are supposed to auto unlock after 60 days. The main friction is that payoff access can be blocked for about 30 days, some stores only accept cash, and the line still needs separate cancellation. Sales tax is due on the full amount, and the gift card timing can be delayed on online orders.

Common Questions (5)

  • The offer requires installment activation on an eligible AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile plan, and the gift card is sent by email. In-store purchases usually get it within minutes to 24 hours after activation, while online orders can take up to about 21-25 days after shipment.

  • Yes, but the payoff process is inconsistent: some buyers were able to pay off at a Verizon corporate store or by calling 611, while others were told to wait 30 days or that only corporate stores could do it. After payoff, the line can be canceled through Verizon chat or customer service, but you may still need to push for prorated charges and fee credits.

  • Yes. Verizon's policy says phones purchased from Verizon or an authorized retailer are locked for 60 days after purchase or activation, then automatically unlock unless the device is stolen or fraudulent. Several buyers also reported the phone showing unlocked around day 60 without needing a separate unlock code.

  • The gift card is issued by Walmart after the purchase is completed, so canceling the carrier line does not appear to void the card by itself. The bigger risk is paying off the phone too early or failing to complete the installment activation, which can prevent the promotion from applying.

  • The phone price varies by storage, with examples like $24.98/month for 128GB and $27.75/month for 256GB over 36 months. A common 256GB total is about $1,099.08 before tax and activation, so after the $500 Walmart eGift Card the effective device cost is roughly $600 plus tax and fees.

I have 5 lines with Verizon More 5G plan (promo from like 4 years ago). What is my best course of action to get this deal?

Add two new lines, pay in full, then cancel the lines? This will not mess up my legacy 5G More plan right?

I read fine print somewhere on the Walmart page that using a legacy line to get this deal will make me upgrade to a current Verizon line. Which sucks.

If I buy through ATT, is it also possible to cancel the line and not pay anything, and the phone will be unlocked?
Could you tell me how this deal works with ATT?
PLEASE

So will they refund it if I keep the service? The store does not allow me to pay off.
It's unlikely you will get your activation fee refunded after 3 days. If you keep the service then you are supposed to pay anyway, you can request for a refund but I don't think you want to pay a months plan for checking to see if activation can be waived.

Okay, when I tried that I the automated system said can not proceed. But if I said I want to make a payment, it said I don't have any outstanding bill but prompted me for the payment amount anyway, so if I make a full payment of the phone, does it go toward paying off the device? I placed an order online yesterday without going through the thread (there is no walmart nearby where I live), am I already screwed?
It might but I am not too sure as it might setup to go to the bill.

My understanding is that in order for Verizon to unlock, 60 days of active service is required for prepaid. Therefore, in order to get this deal, you have to be on post paid plan and manage to pay off the phone in a corporate store, which is YMMV (this is the part that worries me). Is my understanding correct? Thanks!

No, Verizon phones get automatically unlocked 60 days after activation even without active service.

"Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase. Devices that you purchase from one of our authorized retailers are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently. Following the 60 day lock period, we do not lock our phones at any time."

I see. So you can't pay it off at the store either if you ordered the phone online?

No, you can pay it at the corporate store after you receive the phone. Actually if you know the new Verizon number, you can pay it off right away by going to a corporate store.

Yeah I actually wrote down the number before I accepted the verizon agreement during the check out process. I read some of the previous posts where people saying they ordered online and they have to wait for 30 days to pay it off, that got me confused.
