I'm having trouble getting my application approved. I unfroze my credit files and have good credit. Is there something else I could be missing?
You need to contact Verizon/ATT. They need to do something in the backend to allow it to go through in some of the cases.

I bought ATT phone in store about 2 hours ago, my phone is activated, made 2-3 phone calls, text etc and phone is even unlocked but no Walmart gift card etc. I'm not sure what are you options if you dont get the giftcard or it was sent to wrong address etc?
You must've received the GC when you are at the store. Its egift card and it takes 2-3mins to get you in email. It will be sent to your email that you used to buy phone in store.Walmart Store person told me that he is going to initiate gc request and asked me to chck my email box if that is received. You should've checked before leaving store. If its a near by store you can chck back tomorrow to the store person

So, the agent sent me an email with details about the final bill (estimate) and it shows as cancelled effective today, so I will be charged for 2-days. But, I am still seeing the activation fee of $40. Asked the agent, and am being told the Activation Fee will be credited to the account. Is this how it's supposed to go?

You actually had success paying $1100 in cash at a Verizon store? Dear Lord, I've tried so many Verizon corporate stores & they all refuse to do it, making me wait 30 days. Please share what you told the rep & if you are comfortable sharing the specific Verizon corporate store, if it's near me I'd love to try this.

"How can I pay off my device payment agreement early?
You can pay off your device payment agreement any of these ways:

Sign in to My Verizon to view your Device Overview page. Select Manage to pay off the balance for that device.
At a Verizon store.
Note:

When you pay off your device, any monthly promotional credits you get for that device will stop.
If it's still within the device's 30-day return and exchange period, then you can only pay off the device in a Verizon store."

Sometimes it takes 5 days for the credits to apply to the bills so I'd keep an eye but if it does not go down you need to contact them again. I saw my bill was only finalized after 5 days for a similar Verizon bestbuy deal

This is crazy, I was able to unlock the ATT device online. so does that mean I can cancel it now and there should be no more charges since I bought the device in store today only. The bill says 60.99 but I believe that will drop off.
That's exciting! Where did you see the unlock option online? This was after how long you paid off the phone?

Saw the unlock option in the app!!! Going to try it now.

Unlocked request denied saying the phone is still under installment plan, but the app shows "paid off". Will wait until tomorrow to try again.

Thanks, so it's okay to wait?

Agent is saying now that since I don't have a bill yet, I need to wait for the final bill to be generated for them to credit the activation fee. Agent also said that they will leave detailed documentation on the account so that the next agent will be able to credit once final bill comes. I guess I need toilet paper wait for the final bill and then reach out for support if it doesn't work out.

I think as OP mentioned porting out may be the only option you have, the payoff amount should come in the final bill. Make sure to activate the phone first on Verizon network to start 60 day clock.
Yup my phone is active on Verizon. To make sure I understood what you & OP are referring to, I can port out my newly activated Verizon phone number (I don't need it) within the 3 days (or even after 3 days) of activation to my mvno or wherever. This will generate a final bill with phone payoff amount + prorated service +/- activation fee? At this point I'm totally fine with paying activation fee & prorated service. 60 days later the phone will be unlocked because it was activated on Verizon. & we are sure the phone won't get bricked or blacklisted or anything? Sorry for asking again, just want to make sure I don't miss a step. Thanks 🙏🏻

Nope. Just port out the line. They may not allow you to cancel.
Could you please advise how the porting out works? Any recommendations on porting out? Once ported out wait for 30 days to pay off the device? Feeling a bit lost

Is it still possible to do the deal with ATT online? Any downsides to the online deal? No phones in stock near me anymore.

For anyone with POST PAD ATT AND BOUGHT ONLINE:

1. Did you pay off and immediately able to request unlock from att portal?
2. I doubt that the eGC was received this fast but just curious if ANYONE received it within 21 days, if so how many days it took?

THANKS

I made the order online and contacted AT&T as I can not access my account and they said your account is still pending and you should wait more. It seems I need to wait more for my account and device to show up
