The phone will not be unlocked just bc you paid it off and cancelled the line. The phone will revert to Reseller Flex Lock policy. I just did this on ATT.

Order phone on 11/14, new account activated same day, got phone delivered today 11/18. On 11/16, I didn't want the account to go past 3 days of activation so I paid it off and cancelled the line. Today, I checked sickw.com and the phone says Reseller Flex Lock policy and will lock as soon as I activate it with whatever carrier at setup.

I have another ATT line that I opened on 11/16 for another iphone 16 that already unlocked. I will activate this phone on that line and do the eSIM swap to get this phone unlocked.
Thanks so much

Did you cancel within 3 days?

maybe partial monthly charge + next monthly charge?

It should be on the finalized bill in the app/website under extra/other fees

edit: look at this reddit post for example https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/s/8Y6fIKlLlK

the term says installment activation, not ongoing installment.

I guess installment activation will trigger gift card.
What exactly is installment activation please? First payment made?

Those who did this Walmart iPhone 16 egift card deal online in the USA could you please tell me who the company that shipped it/delivered it to you is?

My FedEx Home Delivery driver is being a stupidhead. I'm really hoping the iPhone package won't go through FedEx Home Delivery if I place an online order for this deal during Event02 because I don't want to physically have to deal with the FedEx Home Delivery driver to sign for the package.

Thanks for any info/advice. It's appreciated!

P.S. I wasn't the one being a pain. The usual FedEx driver is wonderful, so I'm hoping that this stupidhead is just a seasonal worker or a 3rd party somehow delivering the package to my home from FedEx.

This particular FedEx home delivery driver decided to leave my packages down my driveway instead of actually taking them to the front door as directed. They even took delivery pictures showing how badly they left the packages! We were not particularly pleased with them.

Hence being leery about if FedEx home delivery might be the who delivers the iPhone that I likely need to sign for from walmart.com's Event02.

I chatted with a rep yesterday for an hour (mostly waiting). The rep was really nice and said that my phone was showing unlocked on his end after he submitted unlock request. But as of now (15 hours later), phone is still locked. Sickw shows locked to verizon. I was surprised the rep did not say things like I need wait for 60 days. Any update on your unlock request?
Same here. I got an email almost 22 hours later that the unlock request was denied. Talk to another rep today and explained the situation. The rep told me there was unpaid balance, which I clarified wasnt there. So the rep helped me submit a new request and added a note saying the device has been paid off. Ill wait for 24 hours and see.

Are AT&T iPhones same as Verizon ones? I mean, can I use the AT&T iPhone 16 on Verizon network as they use CDMA and AT&T uses GSM.

The deal is still going on so you don't need wait for Event2? The delivery depends on the region and subcontracts so I guess if you specify your rough location people might be able to help. OnTrac does not have a great track record either.

If this is on Verizon then it should automatically unlock after 60 days after you activate. I am not sure what the reps are talking about doing an unlock request.

From https://www.verizon.com/about/con...ing-policy

"Postpay Device Unlocking Policy

Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase. Devices that you purchase from one of our authorized retailers are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently. Following the 60 day lock period, we do not lock our phones at any time."
