at this point i would just wait the 2 weeks until Black Friday to see what deals are available on tablets,

I wouldn't pay more than $120 for it now. Being a very slow to charge unit, you need to plug it in and go to sleep. It is like waiting for the paint to dry in the can before you discard the can. This is a 2022 model and will be out of updates in a year or so. Already announced replacement model will charge faster, has better speakers and is faster too. Here is link about the new model, it is already out in Europe:

The 256gb A9+ is $179 on samsung site with EDU discount, wouldn't that still be a better deal if you need it by Christmas than the A11+ which will likely start at $249 for only 128gb of storage and 6gb of ram.

Yes, if you need it now, just get it. Keep in mind that the newer version has seven year support, so until 2032. This model will see end of life support within a year or so. Not to mention the newer model has better speed, charging and speakers.

I was thinking about buying the 256GB A9+ from Best Buy for 170 after using the mcdonalds 10$ coupon. Thanks for giving things to consider. Do you know when the A11+ will release in the U.S. or what the price would be?

Price will be somewhat similar to the European price, I think it will get here after Christmas, not before that. IF you need it as a gift, they get what is on the shelf now.
