you can buy bronze plan - $35 on the last day from walmart.com and select Direct Top Up option and provide phone number.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Straig...om=/search

Straight Talk has a "Reserve" system:

you can add a plan to your account before your current service ends. Straight Talk Extras+1
Plans you add to the Reserve are automatically applied on your Service End Date.

What Happens If You "Activate Now" Instead of Reserving

If you choose to not reserve but instead apply the new plan immediately, Straight Talk warns: you will lose any remaining days on your current plan.

Scenario ("$55 plan ends Dec 17, 2025; you want to add a $35 plan early for the second month")

If you add the $35 plan now and put it in Reserve, it will not start immediately. Instead, it will wait and begin on Dec 17, 2025, when your current $55 plan ends.
It won't overlap or "stack" service days unless you choose to activate the plan immediately (which is risky because you'll lose remaining days).

Judging by the comments, I guess I'm the only one who knows how to unlock it right when I get home. No reason to wait 60 days. Hmm strange.

Oh please do tell!! woot

Anyone have experience with doing a "rebrand" of Straight Talk phones to Tracfone/Pageplus in order to get the cheap plan for second month? I've read some folks doing that on reddit, but not sure if it is something that still works now or not.

I have had TracFones unlock easily but ST was a PITA despite being the "same" company. I have had my 16e since May, activated service only to find in September it was still locked. CSR made me sign up for another paid month, only to find yesterday it was still locked. After several msg to chat support and calling where both said I need to have 90 days of service, eventually magically unlocked today to use on VZ prepaid.

Got two this morning from my local store, didn't have to wait, the associate told me l had to get a contract plan at first, until l showed them the walmart website advertising it.

The first phone was scanned it at the $55 plan, but the 2nd phone came in on a $40 plan, as she linked the phones to one account.

E-sim only on these phones, in the past they just scanned the barcode on the back of the phone box and l didn't have to open them in the store.

This time, opened both phones in store, and activated both while there.
came out to $285.78 with tax for the first phone, and $269.73 for the second phone with the cheaper plan.

The associate said l'd get an e-mail from straight talk, and they'd unlocked after 30 days of service. (Guessing she is wrong based on this thread, and no e-mail, so probably typo'd my e-mail)

Upgrading my wifes phone from an Iphone 11, and mine from a 12 Mini with battery issues.

Did the same thing last year for my kids phones to get them upgraded to 13's at the time.

Anyone else had to open them in store? Hadn't had that situation before, guessing due to e-sim?
Thanks for this helpful post. Did you port-in the number?

Just got mine and it was the usual horrible Walmart shopping experience. Waited 45 min for the overworked rep (just phone reps, not Walmart workers, can do this), only to have her help a customer who just arrived. I had to interrupt them to get her to help me first. So lesson is if you want this - get today or first thing tmw morning - this weekend is gonna be a madhouse with the iphone 16 deals they're offering.

Couple notes - tax is based on $400 price, not $200. Had no paperwork and she didn't activate or open box there, did all on my own at home. Once she assisted me, took less than 10 minutes - but depends how much they want to sell you on insurance, accessories, etc. Figured my rep hated me so just wanted me out asap!

No, I care about the better dual-camera system with an ultrawide lens, more powerful GPU, brighter display with a Dynamic Island, and MagSafe. Love how you assume it's for "keeping up appearances."

Did you have to port there, or could you do it at home?

" A little" work is usually not the case. Employee's at mine are slow, clueless about promotions, unable to help and outright lazy and do the bare minimum. There's tons of DP's about employee's setting you up incorrectly and I end up on the phone with CS for an hr either way.
Lots of stuff is locked up and getting an employee to help is like pulling teeth. In store at Walmart/Discount cell providers has always been not worth dealing with for me and more times than not hidden fee's and processes are not disclosed upfront...but YMMV obviously but the juice isn't worth the squeeze on alot of these instore deals
Well, you could buy the phone for $300 then just do two months of service only $40 bronze, then $10 stay connected. ~$95 more than the $200+activation in store, but no need to do activate in store, can just go home and do online.

I will never walk into a carrier store, post paid OR prepaid, ever again in my life. I absolutely f*cking despise that entire experience.
I have and, honestly, I don't hate your response.
