Today at the store, employee said that the phone is sold out. But, per online order, can pick up the same date. Just curious who's right.

So, you're not willing to a little legwork to save roughly $335?
Went to a couple of stores, online it shows pickup availability but in store they said out of stock.

Went to a couple of Walmart stores. Horrible experience with the straight talk people there. They are not Walmart employees and are not at all interested in selling phones. Had to wait an hour to get hold of someone to learn that its OOS and even though Walmart app shows it in stock. Avoid if you value your time.

Just had a really difficult time getting this to work at the Walmart. They had one left, and the electronics team lead was checking me out. even though he was scanning both barcodes like he should, it still kept ringing up $299 even with the $55 card scanned. He tried to tell it was only an online line deal. I showed him that it said in store only, then he insisted that the deal had expired. Then I showed him online where it had the extended date, but he simply said it was ringing up $299 and there's nothing he could do about it.
Fortunately, there was a giant sign 2 feet away from us that had this exact deal, so he called the store manager over and tried to tell her that it was expired and was online only, but I pointed to the sign and said I just want the deal that is on your sign. So she made him modify it and we got it for $199. I'm not sure if they activated it or not, but he said they did.
It was just really annoying that this guy was a team lead in the electronics department, but he had no idea how this deal worked, and kept telling me information that was clearly incorrect. Well, at least we did manage to get the phone. My husband was impressed that I did not back down.

Walmart simply needs a store locator filter for phone activation.

What do you mean it changed right in front of you? My guy seemed like he was scanning the barcodes correctly, but couldn't get the discount to come up.

Delusional to say in store is inconvenient. You go to groceries anyways. priorities already limit to online shopping so it a moot point. This deal kick azz lol
Any day I don't have to go to Walmart is a good day. You clearly don't live in the Southern US lol.

The Walmart I go to is very smooth. They seem to know what they are doing unlike many others mentioned in this thread. I was in and out in 20 minutes. The Total store is not nearly as smooth based on the only one I've ever been to. My choice was basically pay $35 more at WM for a smoother transaction vs pay less for the hassle I recall the local Total retailer to be plus having to port and verify ID. I chose WM. To each his own....
I have not been so lucky with Walmart Associates... It took them 20 minutes to send somebody to unlock a display case for me the other day, despite my having talked to several of them. That's not an isolated issue either. Personally I'd rather not leave my phone number in the hands of a middleman to a carrier either.

lol, apparently you don't have a phone to call them. Also online will indicate if in stock.
You must be new here. You're not supposed to EVER call a WalMart for a YMMV deal. And their online inventory is historically pretty inaccurate

Have to agree with you, but it seems weird that people are getting so offended by us being honest about how bad WalMart is.

It's worth it for me to pay more money and not have to deal with the dumpster fire of Walmart CS. Happy for the people who got it to work though.
