I am in the market for a racing this year, (well last few year, been putting it off). Holding out for a bundle, as i have nothing. Was also looking at csl-dd, pxn, Simagic Alpha EVO, so many more choices than last BF. I guess i will jump on the first decent bundle i find, being new, i am not locked into any brand. I want to try a decent rig before I go all in, I might not even like it. Should be able to find a good starter setup around 1k, hopefully less. From my research, I am not interested in anything less than 8nm. I want to give my first try out on sim, the best chance to if i stick with it or not.

update: I ended up getting the Simagic EVO Sport 9Nm Base 3-Piece Bundle × 1 Alpha EVO Sport (9Nm)+GTS(Leather)+P500 $719.00 now looking for a cheap desk stand around $100 or so, to see if i like it and want to stick with it. If i do like sim racing, then i will look into a full sim rig, just want to make sure i like it first.

I did a writeup a while back on my own personal setup. I have since upgraded some components, but it was a really solid setup for the price. There are probably ways you could cut some corners to get to $1k (single monitor vs triples, less expensive seat, etc). I've been very happy with the frame for the price I paid. And the R9 was perfect for me. I have no desire to upgrade at the moment.

Looks cool and lot of good info. I am not looking into going that big of a setup yet, just need wheel, base, pedals, and maybe an e-brake but not to important. I want to make sure I like it before I jump all in. Basically for messing around when i have time. Would like to try a little rally racing without breaking my back. But mostly just messing around in forza 5. Might be able to mess with it 1 or 2 days a month if i am lucky. However, if i like it and find it fun, then i am sure I will be spending the thousands. Chances are it will be like my jet ski, paid 14k 6 or 7 years ago (vxr1800), i put 50 hours on it and have not started it in years. Now that I want to try it out, I just found out my brother sold his $3k ClubSport DD+ Ready2Race Drift Bundle last year. Did not even know he had one. He did not tell me but i bet he sold it less than 1k.

Since you do not know if Sim Racing is for you, I would highly recommend buying a used setup. Why? Because when you resell, you should be able to resell it for what you paid. There are tons of barely used sim rigs on Facebook Marketplace and elsewhere because people overspend and quickly realize they aren't a racecar driver!
