The Meta Quest 3S is being treated as a budget VR headset that feels close to a Quest 2 with a Quest 3 chip, and the Amazon bundle adds a $50 credit and a Gorilla Tag bonus. The main appeal is getting into VR at a lower price, especially for first time users. The biggest drawback is the lenses, which are described as noticeably worse than Quest 3 and harder to adjust. The Amazon credit also has a shipped and sold by Amazon restriction, and promo credits can be unreliable. A solid entry point if the bundle terms work for you.
Common Questions (4)
Costco has been mentioned at $200, and Best Buy has also been described as the better option for shoppers without Costco. The Amazon listing is effectively $200 after the $50 credit, but it may still be less attractive if you can get the lower Costco price or a better Best Buy promo.
The Quest 3S uses the Quest 2-style optics with a Quest 3-class CPU, and the lenses are commonly described as softer than the Quest 3. The 3S also has less convenient lens spacing and eye-distance adjustment, so it can be harder to dial in a comfortable fit.
The Amazon credit must be used on items shipped and sold by Amazon, which can make redemption tricky. Promotional credits with 30-day terms may also fail to post automatically, sometimes requiring customer service follow-up.
The listing also includes a Gorilla Tag bundle. Sam's Club has been mentioned as a similar $250 option, but with a nice case instead of the free game.

Hey Zuck, I'd buy this in a second if it could natively play Alyx, how else are you going to get the money to pay your Prima Donna AI hire

We are going to return it and get a refurb 3 from Meta on eBay when they have a promo code again.

Still significantly more than a $200 3S but I had paid $300 for our 3S. I returned it last night. If you are new to VR, the 3S is still pretty good but once you're used to the lenses in the 3, it's hard to go back.
