Raleys is not selling USDA Prime ribeye for $7/lb that I'm aware of. Raleys mostly deals in lesser Choice, Select, or ungraded beef for their specials. Not the same.

Online says Raleys is $27.99 for Prime Ribeye - IF your store has that grade, AND it's bone in, not boneless:
https://www.raleys.com/product/10...ak-bone-in

It depends on how big of a pack you get at Costco for how much of a discount it works out to be, but assuming that you get a $250 pack (I think the smallest size) with the discount it works out to about $14/lb - HALF Raley's Prime bone-in price.

Blade tenderizing is a process where a machine with needles punctures meat to break down connective tissue, making it more tender. This practice can push surface bacteria, like E. coli, into the center of the meat, so it should be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of

145∘F145 raised to the composed with power cap F
145∘𝐹
for three minutes to be safe, similar to ground beef. This process is common for pre-cut steaks at stores like Costco, and their labels indicate when meat is blade tenderized.

I think the only exception I've seen so far is the filet mignon.

What's the net price per pound roughly? I normally get it at raleys during Xmas with their deal it's about $7/lb for pretty solid quality. Marbling is just a smidge below prime but way above choice if you have a good selection

I'm totally ignorant on this. Can you give a quick idea of what you're saying? Thanks, Dylan

This deal is meaningless unless OP, or someone, lets is know what the package price per pound is before discount.

Edit: there's a long reddit thread on this, seems a typical starting price is $22 a pound before discount. Given how many ribeye sales you see throughout the holidays, I really only see a great value here if you can find a small package to bring the price per pound way down. You're also rolling the dice on how well marbled is is throughout.

Check your local store for the USDA Prime Beef Ribeye Whole Boneless Steak. Sale is for this weekend only until 11/16! No rainchecks. Again, YMMV.

I mean, the math was there for you to work this out pretty easily in the original post, but...

It was $19.99/lb at ours before discount. The discount on a $300 pack brought it down to $15/lb. If you can find a pack around $250 (or ask the meat department if they have any), it becomes $14/lb. You basically want to get the smallest packs they have to maximize the discount.

Costco Prime beef has worked out pretty well for us in the marbling department in the past. It's the Select grades where you have to watch out, IMO (I don't think they carry Choice). This deal is for the Prime beef.

He said that it's not prime.

A well marbled, ungraded 7$ lb ribeye is a much better deal than 20+ per lb for prime in my opinion.

Our local store sells ungraded cuz that often have great marbling, you just need to know how to pick through them.
