Is there any difference between this and Costco's version other than the lever tamping?

The older one doesn't have a hot water dispenser. This new one has a built in tamper but the other comes with a tamper. I have the other one and I already had a electric tea kettle so this new one wasn't worth upgrading for me

believe this new one else that comes with a one shot
process. The other one is either two shots or four shots. what I do is put too mini shot glasses to create two cups of one shot each Because the portal filter splits the shots

barista assist. there's some negative reviews about this. it's a hit and miss. sometimes the grind suggestion is off and you have the manually choose a different option. They probably made it even better on the new version. to me that would be worth it since the whole point of this machine is having you guide you to do the correct shot. and the other one has problems with that

I've weighed the results and it is not perfect each time. It doesn't create a perfect shots. I think the old one does have a problem but a lot of people put sugar in it or they cannot tell the difference

i got the other version (prev gen, i guess) for $279ish off a woot deal. i believe it was a refurb. it has been outstanding for me after 3 months or so. i just buy cafe bustelo pre-ground espresso and fill/tamp and run quad shots or strong coffee. cleanup is super easy. if you can find the previous version near that price, i'd suggest that. After my experience, I'd be fine paying 500-600 based on my satisfaction so far.

I don't believe this is 100% accurate. Costco one comes with a single shot basket.

This may be a silly question, but I've heard mixed reviews about its standard coffee-making ability. If I get this, will it be able to replace my standard coffee machine?

You could use this to make regular coffee or an Americano which is essentially the same thing but better.

Yeah I bought this one but it is only because we almost always make americanos and I really want the integrated hot water for that instead of keeping a kettle on the counter. The integrated tamping is nice too though, but it is definitely a premium price increase over the 601 if you don't need those.

Picked up a "like new" 601 for around $300 on Amazon about a month ago, was looking for every reason to send it back but turned out to really like it. Had no prior awareness of this device and was getting by with Nespresso capsule machines, but makes an awesome array of coffee drinks and kinda fun to do. This newer version has a couple additional features that would be nice to have, but for another $300+ I'm completely satisfied with the last model.

BTW Amazon has some nice covers for the top like this: Replacement Top Mat for Ninja Luxe Espresso Coffee Machine ES601 & ES701, Waterproof Heat-Resistant, Accessories for Ninja Luxe Cafe(1 Pcs) https://a.co/d/6ydgaoW

Yes, only the in-store version comes with a single shot. That's a model ES655CO, and the online one is the model ES601C. Costco in-store model also has an additional foam option and comes with an upgraded steam wand.

That's correct. No, it won't replace your drip coffee machine. What it offers as a regular coffee is just the best attempt of the machine at making something that tastes similar to drip, but it's so much different.

Also, remember that the milk temperature on your machine is much better than this one - just in case you were looking for another reason to keep yours.

Anyone think the price will be even lower on black Friday based on past ninja sale trends?
Ninja itself hasn't discounted the machine quite yet on their site.

Ninja has it back in stock and on sale now for the same price: https://www.sharkninja.com/ninja-...ES701.html
After browsing to it (while logged in), they even sent me a stackable 10% code. I think I'm still going to wait though.
