If you don't care about the brand (because...c'mon, it's contact lens cleaning solution) Walmart has a 2 pack of their brand, 12 oz x 2 for $6.38.

It's okay if you don't mind using an old inferior formula.

You have evidence there's a difference?

The Alcon Opti-Free Pure Moist— https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JRAYJQ —is also showing the 25% coupon for S&S, $12.59 + 25% off = $9.44 for 2 10oz bottles.

No S&S code for me, maybe targeted or only shows for first-time buyers of this product

I won't make any claims about formulas, but I've tried enough major brand and off brand solutions to know that, in experience, for the needs of my eyes, there's a major difference in moisture retention between Optifree and other brands. I'd love to buy the less expensive stuff, but for me, there's a marked difference.

A difference in ingredients is not a difference in performance. Sorry if I was unclear: do you see a performance difference between them - ie is there evidence of this? I'm certainly not saying you're wrong; I'm not a contact lens cleaner expert by any stretch, but it's worth asking the question to save a few bucks. I've never noticed a difference.

AI OverviewThe main difference is that brand-name contact lens solutions are often made with newer, more advanced formulas that can lead to better comfort and hydration, while generic versions typically use older, less refined ingredients that are less effective at combating dryness or lens deposits. While all FDA-approved solutions are safe for cleaning, brand names invest heavily in research to optimize their balance of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and moisturizing components for enhanced eye comfort. Generic solutions may be cheaper but can be more irritating or cause dryness due to higher preservative counts and lower moisture content.

Counterpoint: I try not to mess with my eyes. I've used Walmart brand and it definitely felt a bit different. Not to mention the Hydraglide vs Triple Action issues people have.
