What are the must have tools in M18.I'm holding off adding M18 since M12 has been great for pretty much everything.I'm just DIY homeowner, so if a tool takes a little longer to do what it needs too not much of a big deal, especially considering how compact and lightweight M12 is.But I don't have any m12 cutting tool. Still using corded tools for that.

Depends on how you use it. The M12 is AWESOME for pruning small branches around the yard. and the compact size and weight are definite advantages. I have the M12 for small ones, and then my M18 Sawzall for larger branches (and a chainsaw for the top end).

Good question, for a diy homeowner the only thing I can think of that the M12 line offers, and the M18 being soooo much better, is probably just the Hackzall, and maybe the Fuel packout vacuum if you need a cordless.

I absolutely love the M12 Fuel line and you could use the M12 Fuel Hackzall, it is very good, until you use the M18 Fuel Hackzall, then it is hard to go back. The M18 is not that big of a difference in size as well, but a big difference in power.

I am slowly moving away from the M18 Fuel line, aside from tools like the track saw, vaccums and larger circular saw the M12 doesn't offer, or the batteries are not sufficient enough for power and run time. I don't do much field work anymore, and what I do sparingly, the M12 line covers nicely.

To @AndrewinMD true, for small stuff the M12 is good, but so is the M18, and when it comes to bigger stuff, you don't have to sit there cursing you didn't spend the little bit more for the M18. The M12 isn't that much smaller to make a significant enough difference for a homeowner, maybe for some trades, yes.
