The 98 inch TCL QM7K stands out as a huge, bright mini LED TV with deep blacks, strong local dimming, and picture quality that gets compared favorably to OLED. It also draws praise for gaming features and Dolby Vision, and the size makes it a dramatic basement or home theater upgrade. The main cautions are its weight and awkward mounting needs, since the VESA holes sit low and a sturdy large mount or professional installation matters. A buzzing issue has also been reported on some 2024 and 2025 units, though other sets have no such problem.

  • buyers who are comfortable doing a price-match workflow to hit a lower effective price because multiple commenters reported successfully price matching the QM7K to NFM (even when NFM was far away) and getting it around the $1839-$1840 range.

  • buyers planning to mount the TV and want retailer installation because commenters said they bought it with free mounting/installation and that it looked great in-store, and another said Best Buy installation went well and was worth it for a heavy TV.

  • basement or bright-room setups where you need high brightness and strong gaming performance because one commenter chose the 98" TCL for the basement and said it was "spectacular for brightness" with "solid gaming features," and another said the QM7K at max was already "too bright" in a dark room.

  • home theater shoppers who want near-OLED contrast without going OLED because one owner said the 2500 local dimming zones make it "close to OLED," and another replacement buyer said the picture is amazing and close to OLED.

  • 98-inch TV shoppers who want a huge, bright picture and are happy to pay for a premium model at a strong sale price because one owner said the 98" QM7K is "enormous and gorgeous" with "absolutely zero regrets" and that they don't think you'll get a better price on this model.

  • people who want to replace a smaller TV but are limited by access constraints because one buyer said the 98" was the largest they could fit in their basement and after replacing a Sony 75" they were "couldn't be happier" with an OLED-like picture.

  • buyers who are relying on a specific pull-down mount model because one commenter warned that the motorized Monoprice pull-down version "won't handle this weight," and said the manual version is the one that can handle up to 150 lbs with proper stud installation.

  • people who need to price match after the TV has already been ordered but before delivery because one commenter said their chat/phone price-match attempts were denied since the TV "hasn't been delivered yet."

  • buyers who are sensitive to potential hardware defects because a commenter warned about a buzzing issue reported to have started in 2024 models and continuing into 2025 models (even though others said their unit didn't have it).

  • buyers who want to avoid retailer warranty add-ons because one commenter said they were concerned Best Buy only included a 1-year manufacturer warranty and they didn't want to pay about $500 for Geek Squad protection.

  • people who are shopping for a 98"-size Amazon warranty add-on because one commenter said Amazon removed the 4-year protection for the 98" size (while other sizes still had it).

$450 for the extended warranty worth it?
Same question..I ordered from BB w/o the extended warranty....but need to decide soon whether or not to buy one. From what I have researched thus far, it appears it is necessary.

Got it price matched no problem. Although the customer rep tried to give me the tv for the same price it's listed at Best Buy. I had to tell them to put it in the cart to get the lower price.
Same experience for me as well. They were like, yeah, we are "happy" to price match to $1997!! LOL!!! I was like Duh, add it to the cart first.

Wow - THAT is an expensive warranty.
To be worthwhile, you'd either need a 25% failure rate on that TV, or you'd be very willing to spend money to guard against a warrantied problem.
Any chance one can buy with a CC that doubles warranty duration?

I used the Cit Double cash back card which adds 2 years of extended warranty coverage on top of any manufacturer and/or 3rd party coverage. I'm looking at either AllState ($229) or Asurion ($182) 4 year plans. That would give me 1 year manufacturer, 4-1=3 years 3rd party then 2 years credit card, so 6 years total.

Everyone has their own opinion but paying 25% for an extended warranty just seems insane. Didn't get an extra warranty on mine. There is nothing I've seen that indicates a higher failure rate than any other average TV. At 25%, just buy a new tv if it fails in a few years

I bought mine through Amazon instead of BB because Amazon's 4 year warranty (4 total years from purchase date) was only $182.99.

Here is a link to it for sale on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVWW6...=UTF8&th=1

This one worked for me: VIVO 60 to 120 inch Large Screen Heavy Duty TV Wall Mount for LCD LED Flat and Curved Screens, Articulating Swivel Mount, Max VESA 900x600mm, Black, MOUNT-VW120MRated at 265#
Did the Vivo MOUNT-VW120M hold up fine when extending the arms out?

Presuming by NFM people are referring to Nebraska Furniture Mart, all I'm seeing there is the 6 and 8 model not the deal on a 7. Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Yes, and they are still available - add it to the cart to see the reduction.

I hear you; did the same but still wondering if I need to buy their warranty. Yeah, 25% is insane. Maybe use that money to buy bitcoin or something that will double up in a few years to cover the cost of replacement?? LOL!!!

I got BB to price match NFM today, Thursday, 11/21, even though it's price matching doesn't apply as of today through Cyber Monday.

I went to a local BB late tonight because I'd gone there to look at TVs before, and there was a really solid sales guy who I chatted with, and I told him that I'd come back and buy from him when I was ready (they don't get commission but it helps their KPIs). So, I went back tonight and he wasn't working, but I randomly ran into the store manager and told him I wanted to have that sales guy get credit for the sale, and he said he'd ring me up and do that.

I thought I was screwed since the store manager would know their policy, but he agreed to price match, and I got it for $1839. Helping out the sales guy worked out great, lol.

Wonder why Amazon took away the 4 year protection on the 98". The other sizes still have it.

This is probably because Asurion, the backend insurer, does not really cover any tv that is larger than 85 inches at that low price. Amazon may have made a mistake for previous sales and now corrected it.
