This Acer Predator Orion refurb is a strong-value gaming desktop built around an i7 14700F and an RTX 4070 Super, with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The 4070 Super is the standout, with comments calling out solid 1440p performance, around 60 fps at 4K with settings tweaks, and enough muscle for many AAA games. The listed price can drop to $899.99 with a coupon, and the 800W power supply is a welcome detail. Main cautions are the limited LGA 1700 upgrade path, possible thermal and refurb-condition concerns, and the fact that heavy local AI workloads may want more VRAM.
Common Questions (4)
It should handle almost anything at around 60 fps or close to it, and at 1440p it can drive 144Hz or better with the right monitor. At 4K, expect roughly 60 fps with some settings tweaks.
Yes. The listing title should be updated because the GPU is the RTX 4070 Super, and the seller confirmed the system uses an 800W power supply. That combination is a big part of why the deal is considered strong for the price.
The main limitation is the LGA 1700 socket, which is at end of life, and there is no overclocking headroom on this non-K setup. An i9 upgrade is possible but not a great value, so this is mostly a buy-for-now system rather than a long-term CPU platform.
A $10 coupon drops the price to $899.99. That makes it a sub-$900 refurb for an i7-14700F, RTX 4070 Super, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.

$450 for gpu
$240 for cpu
$190 for RAM
That's $880 for just those parts!
At 4K, it should get around 60fps and might need some settings tweaking.

I was going to build one with a Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon 9060XT 16gb, 32gb RAM, Gigabyte X870 gaming mobo.
Would this be an acceptable alternative? Are there any shortcomings that could be upgraded in the future?

This has decently better GPU, so is the better gaming machine.
I have an i9-14900KF and 4070TS (Ti-Super) in my setup and its an easy 100+fps @ 1440p on every game I've thrown at it with maxed settings. I can't imagine the pc in this deal would be a whole lot less capable, especially at 1080p gaming.
The only thing I'd look into is how good the thermals are, see what common complaints are.
NM. I see the 20% pending points on the transaction. Thanks. You got me off the fence of buying
