Anyone know how this compares to the 2200? I bought the 2200 last year to replace an even older cheap Philips Norelco I've had to many years and the 2200 seems less powerful.

Same question. SD used to be full of deals on electric razors and now I hardly see any (now that I actually need one)

Quality is crap on these - the plastic pieces eventually pop off with age

I bought some 5000 series @ $35 in past years during the holiday seasons. Should I expect 5000 series to drop to $35 again this year?

Should read the Amazon reviews or even the 1-star BestBuy reviews. These make micro cuts to the skin and leave it horribly red and painful.

I think this is cheaper than replacement foils for my old one

Nice to have on the shelf, but not a high-end to consider it as investment

My norelco started making high pitched screeching noises when shaving. Maybe time for replacement. I don't trust using norelco in shower. I remember buying their coolskin line of shavers and both died on me within a year. Paid around &100 for each.

Assuming one wants to go through the hassle (I do because I'm cheap Stick Out Tongue ) .. if you register your norelco shaver and contact them via their online chat website they'll ask you a bunch of questions far as troubleshooting (there's a strange one re: what kind of outlet it's plugged into I had to do some google research to figure out what the heck they were talking about Stick Out Tongue ) but they have been really good about giving me a free replacement shaver in the .. cripes over a decade now.. I've been using their shavers in the shower.. if you factor in the replacement shavers (I've found shavers typically last anywhere from 10 months to a year in the shower) you get about two and a half years worth out of your purchase ... they may or may not ask you to mail the defective shaver back BUT they will always give you a prepaid shipping label.

Me too. They're firmly above $130 the last few months that I've personally been keeping an eye on prices

I'm still using a Norelco Quadra, made (probably) in the 1990s. It still works well, but I've had to replace the batteries at least twice in the last 15 years. This new unit HAS to be better. I might buy ...

I'm sure it's a fine shaver. In for one. Cheers!

I think the biggest difference is lithium ion vs NiMH battery.
