The Sonos One SL is a compact home speaker that sounds strong for its size and works well in stereo pairs or as a boost to a soundbar. It supports AirPlay 2 and uses WiFi, with easy control from phones and computers once set up. The main drawbacks are the Sonos app headaches, the lack of Bluetooth, and the need for AC power, so it is not truly portable. A solid pick for room audio if those limits fit your setup.
The Sonos One SL can support AirPlay 2 for streaming from compatible Apple devices.
Setting up two Sonos One SL speakers as a stereo pair can deliver full sound and easy control across computers and iOS devices.
The Sonos One SL can work again after an earlier app-related mishap when the system is functioning properly.
Some orders reportedly arrive well packed with matching serial numbers and no visible damage.
The Sonos One SL is not truly wireless because it requires AC power for operation.
The Sonos app experience can be buggy or quirky, and it may remove saved songs or break voice control on older versions.
The Sonos One SL cannot be paired via Bluetooth, and casting support may vary by app.
Some refurbished units reportedly fail to recover even after using the required Google Device Utility app.

For those used to bluetooth speakers or headphones - like most of us, it is annoying to have to go through another process just to stream spotify or pandora or whatever to these speakers, but I just have an echo dot sitting on top of mine, and after some sorta fiddly setup, it works reasonably well just talking to it to start my music. You just have to say the right thing with the right words to get it to play the music/station/playlist you want from the source you want to the speaker you want.
I really wish these had a simple aux jack so that you could just hook up a bluetooth module and be done with it.
Yes, the Sonos app is really that bad. I just don't even want to deal with it, so if you're willing to go through the slight hassle of jumping through more steps just to play your music, the speaker does sound decent.
Its just that there are so many easier ways to get music into your ears now instead of jumping through even a couple more extra steps to get music streaming on this thing every time.
