These are rechargeable 1.5 volt lithium AA batteries aimed at devices that need full voltage, like smart locks, Blink cameras, and game controllers. The constant 1.5 volt output can help where regular Eneloops or alkaline cells fall short, and the price looked attractive for testing a niche use. The main cautions are that lithium cells need the right charger, may not give a low battery warning, and some review photos raised fire concerns. There are also reports of listing confusion and wrong items shipped, including AAA batteries instead of AA.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. These are 1.5V lithium rechargeable cells, so they can work in devices where regular 1.2V NiMH rechargeables are too low, such as some smart locks and Blink cameras. They also hold a constant 1.5V until depleted, which means some devices may not give a low-battery warning.

  • Some orders reportedly arrived as AAA batteries even though the box label said AA, and the listing later changed to a Micro-USB version. That makes the deal risky if you need the exact USB-C AA item shown in the listing.

  • The battery label says 2400mWh, while the listing also mentions 1600mWh. Those are different units: 1600mAh at 1.5V converts to 2400mWh, so the two figures can describe the same battery capacity in different ways.

  • The fire and explosion photos are tied to the yellow version with the USB-C port on the side, while this deal is for the black version with the port on top. The black version still has reports of inconsistent quality control and shorter charge retention.

  • No. These are lithium cells, not NiMH batteries, and putting them in the wrong charger can damage the charger or burn it up. They need a charger designed for rechargeable lithium AA cells, typically with the specified 5V/1A input.

Says "2400mWh" on the battery. It says both "2400mWh" and "1600mWh" in the Amazon description. I'll assume "2400mWh".

Going to give these a shot. I have a smart door lock that won't work with regular rechargeables due to the voltage being too low.

Exactly my plan! Even fully charged Eneloops won't power the lock.

All of the reviews showing exploding batteries are for the yellow version with the USB-C port in the side. This deal is for the black version with the port in the top.

The only negative reviews for the black version say that they might be hit or miss as far as quality control goes and that people say that they might not hold a charge for very long.

1600 mAh (milliamp-hours). Not the same as 2400 mWh (milliwatt-hours). 1600 mAh x 1.5 volts = 2400 mWh

One is mAh and the other is mWh.
1600ma x 1.5v x 1h = 2400mWh.

USB chargeable lithium batteries tend list mWh and must be converted. OP listed the more common mAh conversion.

These are not NiMH cells. They will burn up a charger if you put them in.

These lithium cells have their own use cases.

I'm just imagining the look on the fire marshals face when it's explained that these has the black usb-c port in the top
