I have the 4 HK Onyx Studio 7 speakers, Great sound, especially when paired.
You can pair only two same series speakers together at a time.
You have to pair the two speakers together each & every time that you power them on. (Which takes literally less than 10 seconds.)

The sound is fantastic for the price. Their full volume isn't as loud as other portable speakers, but I reckon that helps keep the quality.
I was also not a fan of the design change between the 5 and 6/7/8 models. The 5 was much easier to "grab & go" and then place it somewhere else because it had a solid base. The 6/7/8 models have basically a 2-point design and I don't find it to be as stable as the single, big base of the 5. That may have been feedback HK received through the development cycle because the Onyx 9 is back to a single base design.
I'm really really tempted to buy two of these 8's so I can use the pairing function (when desired), and then repurpose or donate my remaining older models.
