Agreed but, still pretty solid at this price point, IMO.

I tested the 2nd gen before - I could not hear the airplane engines AT ALL, I was very surprised when I got the XM5s and they were crap at ANC even though they're rated in the same class

I picked up the 2nd gen and don't regret them. Just wish they were already wireless charge capable without the additional case.

Looks like the black is available again for the same price.

I've had these for almost two years now and there are a few things I think are worth mentioning. The call quality seems to be fine in my experience but as for ANC, they're top notch as are most Bose headphones/earbuds and are great on the plane. As for connectivity, I use it on iOS and connection is not as seamless. Sometimes only one earbud would connect then I'd have to put both back in the case and take them out again and reinsert into my ears it to connect both earbuds. A small issue that I have is either the shape of the earbud or the way that it's positioned in the case often makes it a little difficult to take out of the case. Now on to my biggest issue and I've seen some people mention same issue on Reddit is the small piece of plastic (think of it as similar to a washer) that the silicone ear tip attaches to that I guess seems to have merely been glued to the earbud has fallen off. This just happened recently and I haven't decided whether to try to just use superglue to glue it back or contact Bose about it as I haven't gotten around to do either. That's my personal experience with these so far.

I've used these for about a year now.
Quiet mode is pretty incredible. You can barely hear someone right beside you talking at a normal volume.
The charging in the case is inconsistent at best. I always put them in and lightly jostle them to ensure they're actually charging. Even then, they sometimes only charge to 90% in the case. Sometimes they don't charge at all.
Battery life is incredible - I usually get 8-9 hours.
Call quality isn't special - anytime I drop the call from earbuds to the phone, the person on the other end says "oh that's better". You can definitely hear the person through the ear buds but not very loud.
The bass and audio quality is amazing.
You get 3 sizes which is nice.
Swapping devices is pretty seamless.
They can get clogged pretty easily with earwax so you'll want to clean them after most uses.
It won't alert me to incoming messages or phone alerts, but will inform you that someone is calling (it won't say who through the ear buds, you'll need to check your phone).
Their customer support isn't good.
Overall, I would pay $150 but definitely would not pay the standard $300. $200 is a maybe.
Good luck!
