I've done many metro promos over the years and it used to be you only need to pay 1 month during activation and then you can just let it sit for 6 months and phone will unlock afterwards. They've since changed it to a year and I haven't tested if it's the same yet. If you're concerned with unlocking the phone then I wouldn't go with this promo. It still won't unlock after 3 months. You'll need to wait the full year for it to unlock.
My iphone 12 and 2024 Moto Stylus that I bought from Metro last October 2024 just recently unlocked. The 365 days unlock period after activation is accurate.

Metro deals are good for trade-ins. This is their 2nd best phone deal right now behind the Galaxy S25 FE.

Did you port away your number, or just stopped paying the month fee? Thanks!

yeah this is what I'm interested in...any idea what the trade in value for the iPhone 16e will be at Apple once it's discontinued?

Current trade-in values for cash from online shops (from browsing flipsy) is pretty weak - less than $200. Probably best to use the phone for upgrade deals.

So it's $155, and not $100 then?

Isn't there an option to just not pay the 2nd and 3rd month of service. And basically have the device for $150 something?

This is what I'm wondering as well. If you don't need the service, wouldn't it just be easier to cancel before 2nd & 3rd month. Less to worry about. Any reason this wouldn't work?

If you read the thread, you will find that paying for only month 1 is the recommended path. And there is nothing to cancel, your Metro service stops when you haven't paid for month 2.

Thank you! I tried searching the thread for 'cancel' but didn't find much.

If the phone is locked for 365 days, it is not really a good deal. You will not able to use it on other networks or internationally when traveling abroad. And the value of the phone will be reduced so much after one year with the new model coming out.

Yeah and not worth anything if u try to trade it in to upgrade to new phone LOL. Even my old iphone 12 gets over $100 for trade-in value.

I was with T-Mobile (seven years) and paying $152 for five lines. They wouldn't help me out with anything to stay. Just switched to AT&T and monthly is now $67. I lost "free" Netflix, so add on another $25 for apples/apples comp. This deal is smoking if you are looking to switch. I really liked T-Mobile and had a good experience. If this is still available in 90 days and I can figure out how to get that 5th line, I'll port back over.
So you have 5 lines on AT&T for $67? I'm happy with T-Mobile, 10 lines for $180. But 5 for $67 is better. How did you manage that?
