These have the newer hinges. Sony has a website to check the serial number; I think they offer extended warranty if the serial number matches the old batch.
I bought mine awhile ago and the serial number isn't on the list.

I use my regularly when I want to hear more kick than the XM5 can offer. XM5 ANC is better but not by much. You get 80% of the XM5 with the ULT. It has multi bands EQ so tune it to your taste.
