Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

why is everyone trying to use Credit Cards? Isnt this offer for using PYPLs BNPL product? The most you can double dip on in 25% downpayment. The max double dip impact is ~$10 (1250 X 25% downpayment X extra 3% from 5% CB cards)

Am i missing something??
Yes, you are missing that the 20% is on the total amount paid on all qualifying trx that use BNPL until the $250 cash back is hit.

CC can be used to pay BNPL and the BNPL payment method can be updated per payment

Just pulled the trigger and bought a graphics card from Best Buy. Still haven't received the notification about the reward points yet. Fingers crossed! I'll update here later.
Cool. It showed 20000 points pending!

I checked out on Ebay with 2 items in cart (same seller). Both in my pay later section in paypal, but look to have paid ebay separately, and only one has the 20% points. So PSA, don't check out w/ more than 1 item at a time I guess.

People say Chase doesn't work though
It appears they may be right after all. This is what AI had to say:
Q. Does PayPal Pay Later otherwise known as PayPal Pay in 4 for work with Chase Freedom credit cards?
A. Unfortunately, Chase credit cards, including the Chase Freedom line, generally cannot be used for third-party Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) installment plans like PayPal Pay in 4.
Here is a breakdown of the situation:
* Chase BNPL Restriction: Chase has stated that they will no longer allow their credit cards to be used for payments to most third-party BNPL providers. This change was effective as of October 2024 (based on reported customer emails and statements).
* PayPal Pay in 4 Impact: Several reports from users and articles suggest that this restriction includes PayPal's Pay in 4 option.
* Chase's Alternative: Chase offers its own installment payment options, such as Chase Pay Over Time (for credit cards) and Chase Pay In 4 (for debit cards and checking customers on select purchases), which they are encouraging customers to use instead.
In summary: While you can generally add a Chase Freedom card to your PayPal wallet and use it for regular PayPal purchases, you most likely cannot use it as the funding source for a PayPal Pay in 4 plan.
To be absolutely sure about your specific card and account, the best course of action is always to check directly with Chase or PayPal customer service.

Made a purchase at Macy's using Pay Later 4 payments. It shows up as a pending active plan. But I don't see anywhere saying how many points I will get.

I don't see pay in 4 as an option. Listed options are my credit cards, checking account, paypal balance and paypal credit. Should I select paypal credit?

likely a rei website issue. proceeding from paypal and going back to rei, you may see $160 at final step.
Thanks you were right but it took me trying it and hoping it'd work. What happened is Paypal showed $200 the whole time all the way to checkout while REI showed the $160 total. But when I got my final confirmation emails, Paypal showed a $160 charge split into 40 payments. (The total is actually $173 with tax but I wanted to keep the numbers simple). So hopefully this works and I get 20% cashback on it. I am glad I was charged the right total.

Try removing paypal as a payment method and don't add it back. Then choose it on checkout and it will ask for account. This worked for me.
sweet, that worked! Thanks a lot.
