Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

bought a ps5 pro from bestbuy using this. was in the market for a while. 16200 points pending atm. so that's effectively 162$ off the ps5 pro.
Looking to buy a ps5 as well, but was hoping to double dip by finding a retailer that accepts paypal that has the base disc console on sale as well. Looks like that would be possible if this deal lasts until BF.

Was your PS5 pro on sale?

Anyone know if there's a retailer that accepts paypal pay in 4 and has the PS5 disc version on sale already?

Trying to buy from Costco.com

Need an actual Paypal card number for the purchase. Anyone know how to reveal it?
Pretty sure that costco doesn't accept paypal pay over time, just affirm. You're looking for the paypal credit card number, which is a whole separate product.

Just bought a set of Pirelli all season tires off Ebay for $1,130 and see 22616 points showed up as pending. Nice to see Ebay works. Used WF cash rewards card so at least an additional 2% cash back as well.

Reddit link? Which subreddit?

EDIT: Looks like most of the explosion is happening here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aliexpress/

It happened to me on 3 aliexpress transactions. They had a paypal coupon on 11/11 on aliexpress that was $40 off $269 so I assume tons of peope got hit with these cash advance fees

Placed an order for something using the monthly and plan to pay in full once the payment completes. Hopefully everything goes through OK. It's too bad it's capped at $250. The item I ordered is like $2k lol... still better than anything else though.

Yes, there have been a large number of recent reports on Reddit, particularly from US customers, about incurring $10 (or 5%) cash advance fees when using a credit card through PayPal for purchases on AliExpress.
Here is a breakdown of what the reports indicate:
* The Nature of the Fee: The extra charge is a cash advance fee, not a standard PayPal or AliExpress transaction fee.
* Who is Charging the Fee: The fee is reportedly being added by the credit card companies/banks that process the transaction, not directly by PayPal or AliExpress.
* The Cause: Users suspect a "technical glitch" or misclassification where the transaction, which is processed through PayPal using a linked credit card, is being mislabeled by the payment processor (Aliexpress/Alipay/PayPal) as a "cash advance" instead of a "purchase." Cash advances typically incur higher fees and immediate interest.
* Who is Affected: This seems to primarily affect US customers using a credit card via PayPal on AliExpress. Customers using a PayPal balance or a linked debit card do not seem to be affected, as those transactions are not considered credit card cash advances.
* Resolution: Some users have reported success in contacting their credit card company and getting the cash advance fee and associated interest waived or reversed, but not all banks have agreed to do this.
In summary, while the fees are real and widely reported, they are technically cash advance fees levied by the credit card issuer due to how the transaction is being coded/processed, not a new standard fee from PayPal or AliExpress.
If you are planning a purchase on AliExpress and are a US customer, you may want to consider using a PayPal balance, a debit card, or paying directly with a credit card (bypassing PayPal) until this issue is resolved.
Would you like me to look up information on how to dispute a cash advance fee with a credit card company?

well i just submitted an order for bravia 8 ii 65 oled at sony. 10% new customer coupon - stacked with id.me 10% = 1979
applied for pay later since the price was higher than pay in 4. Paypal summary shows 5% Pending and 20% pending. could turn out to be a really slick deal. The lowest terms for pay it later were over 6 months and 80$ total interest. Hoping i can just pay it off immediately and not pay interest.. but its a good deal either way. Also 90 back in sony rewards

EDIT: just checked my order showes 49000 points pending..is that 490$!!!!!!!!?? holy crap
