Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

I saw a lot of post here saying the limit is cap off at $250. This is not true. I ordered an Aviron Strong Rowing machine for $2070 after tax and got 41,400 points pending. That's over $400 which is 20% of the $2070 price tag.
Its only pending for now and no one knows if Paypal is going to clawback the points so wouldn't be too sure right now.

It doesn't look like there is a limit (outside of your credit limit). The ToS says up to $1250 so theoretically you can make multiple purchases and limitless 20% off?

Did you do any trade-in? How will that work since trade-in credit will be a refund ?
I didn't do a trade in so I am unsure. I'm assuming it would just take back partial points after the trade in value it deducted

But everyone else is saying Chase doesn't work
yeah, they don't work for this PayPal deal but they work on their own if you would use them to pay for insurance and you would get the Chase UR cash back for that. that's what I meant. it's 2 different unrelated things we are talking about here.

"More need-to-knows" of the reward page in app says %20 up to max transaction. I made a purchase on Apple and most likely will see reward points tomorrow after I pick up the order, Apple commits the transaction and 1st payment out ouf 4 goes to my card. BTW NFCU, BoFA and AMEX cards were listed on the Pay in 4 page so I believe those cards should be fine. I plan to buy another item from Best Buy but looks like it is not for sure the points over 25K will be rewarded even we see them in the account until PayPal credits those points for real.

Q. People on Reddit are reporting in large numbers that they are paying $10 fees and even more whenever they use PayPal on Ali or AliExpress. is this true

A. Yes, there have been a large number of recent reports on Reddit, particularly from US customers, about incurring $10 (or 5%) cash advance fees when using a credit card through PayPal for purchases on AliExpress.
Here is a breakdown of what the reports indicate:
* The Nature of the Fee: The extra charge is a cash advance fee, not a standard PayPal or AliExpress transaction fee.
* Who is Charging the Fee: The fee is reportedly being added by the credit card companies/banks that process the transaction, not directly by PayPal or AliExpress.
* The Cause: Users suspect a "technical glitch" or misclassification where the transaction, which is processed through PayPal using a linked credit card, is being mislabeled by the payment processor (Aliexpress/Alipay/PayPal) as a "cash advance" instead of a "purchase." Cash advances typically incur higher fees and immediate interest.
* Who is Affected: This seems to primarily affect US customers using a credit card via PayPal on AliExpress. Customers using a PayPal balance or a linked debit card do not seem to be affected, as those transactions are not considered credit card cash advances.
* Resolution: Some users have reported success in contacting their credit card company and getting the cash advance fee and associated interest waived or reversed, but not all banks have agreed to do this.
In summary, while the fees are real and widely reported, they are technically cash advance fees levied by the credit card issuer due to how the transaction is being coded/processed, not a new standard fee from PayPal or AliExpress.
If you are planning a purchase on AliExpress and are a US customer, you may want to consider using a PayPal balance, a debit card, or paying directly with a credit card (bypassing PayPal) until this issue is resolved.
Would you like me to look up information on how to dispute a cash advance fee with a credit card company?

Has anyone figured out a way to pay off the balance of the Pay 4 using a prepaid debit card?
I tried a Visa Virtual & a Vanilla Debit Gift card and neither worked. Trying to maximize the play here.

This works out great for me. I have a Citi Mastercard that was originally a Sears card. They recently sent me a letter saying the account has been dormant for 31 months and will be closed at the end of the year unless I use it. However, they sweetened the pot by offering a $75 statement credit if I spend $300+ on the card by December 31.

I went to the Exxon Mobil site and put $400 worth of gift cards in the cart. It allows PayPal so I enrolled the City card. It was approved for Pay in 4. Three of the $100 payments will post by December 31, triggering the $75 statement credit.

I needed the gas cards for upcoming trips anyway. I've had other gas cards breached but not Exxon.
dude. You haven't been using the best credit card ever? Let it sat dormant?
I'm serious. That's an amazing credit card.

No, but people have points pending, so it might work.
I'll wait for some reports of cashing points out before buying so much in GC.

Guilty. I thought it was only good at Sears and Kmart, etc.

The term Thank You in the title probably threw me off
