Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

It might be dead for the "Pay 4" option since I don't see it anymore when I checkout with paypal. The "Pay Monthly" option is available, but that has interests added to it.

It's been mentioned by me more than once and some others. Sometimes the Pay 4 goes away. It took the better part of day for it to come back for me after purchasing something overnight.

It showed "Pay in 4" for me just a few minutes ago while purchasing something.

so do you think it will work with gift cards?!?
Yep.

I just don't see pending point disappearing or issues points being clawed back.

Unless our friend alerted the team to put a stop to it going forward.

We'll see if gc purchases continue to result in pending points.

A number of people, including myself, have reporting pending points on gift card purchases. We aren't going to know until they actually post though...
You're not even going to know once they post because apparently some people think, for the first time Paypal is going to claw back points that are "finalized."

Clawback is a popular word but overrated word on SD.

Anyone know of any travel sites that can utilize this? Only big ticket I'm considering is a trip to Hawaii but not seeing this as a payment processor for most of the sites/tools I use for booking

Yes, I have points from 3 "Pay in 4" purchases showing pending points from these last two days.

Here's the copy/paste from the one I completed around 12:30 AM CST.

$69.95
Nov 21 . Pay in 4
1399 points pending

Edited:

Oh, and of course, now that I completed that purchase, now my Pay in 4 option is gone, again, as expected. I bet it will show up sometime tomorrow, just like it showed back up today.

This was probably the easiest $500 I made in a few minutes. Paid property taxes through paypal first from my account, and then from wife's account. 3% fee for paying paypal is (almost) covered by my CC rewards so I made $500 (assuming it will post properly).
This guy Slicks.

Checked my county's property tax payment portal and there's no Pay in 4 Paypal option, only normal credit cards or (yuck) debit card transaction. Well, my usual plan of churning a CC meeting minimum spend by paying property tax is still a go, but it would have been extra slick to split up the payment in chunks to maximize the Pay in 4 cashback benefit.

I forgot to unfreeze my credit and selected the Pay in 4 option, which caused the payment to error out. When I try to use PayPal checkout after unfreezing, I no longer see the Pay in 4 option. Do I have to reach out to customer support to fix this?

No, a "service value card" (SVC) is not the same as a traditional gift card, although gift cards are a type of SVC. An SVC can be a broader category, including more flexible and reloadable options, while gift cards are typically single-use and limited to one retailer.
thoughts and prayers to those who purchase gift cards 🙏

Can I make a single purchase of $2,000 (camera), would it still work or is it cap at $1,250?

Cap is $1,250 per transaction. If you can split it into $1,250 and $750 for your $2000 purchase you may be able to double dip, it's still unclear that you'll get anything past $250 cashback but it doesn't hurt to try, I suppose.

I would be happy with the $250 cashback on the $2k purchase. I guess my question is, would I be given the option to pay in 4 with a single purchase of $2k?
