Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

This is a horrible offer. Can't find a merchant for me to offer Pay in 4.

I think just even checking to see if pay in 4 works during checkout counts against you, at least temporarily. My $200 spending power disappeared after that and hasn't come back. I didn't actually click on a credit card or apply.

I can confirm the cap does not seem to be at $250. I have accumulated about $700 in points over $3.5k of purchases. Still in pending, so we'll see if this actually pays out lol.

There's plenty. Most of the world deplores Paypal and even if they use it from time to time, they're certainly not going to pick a payment plan for a tiny 20%. They likely believe there is a catch on the interest or some type of late fee. Bi-weekly payment instead of monthly is disturbing to some.

Most people don't have good credit, are not interested in another "line of credit" (along with all the spam/emails/phonecalls) and certainly don't want to ding their credit. Besides, no one clicks on those ads and if they do and they can't find out how to navigate the maze in under 30 seconds....never mind, just use a debit card to complete my payment as usual, get *nothing* in return. They're still writing checks for the float to all the bills so that's out, too. You would be shocked how many people this describes who can't be bothered.

They believe all this nonsense because they aren't on SD where we know (or mostly know) the truth. and there are only a thousand or two of us, gaming the system. We know the true value of 20% in 2025 and more importantly, we recognize that Paypal points are real dollars, not some Ponzi scheme to get you spend more.

You'll be fine.
Appreciate the thoughts and points made above, and you definitely hit some scenarios that I would agree would probably discourage interaction with the event. Guess it just seems like some of these things the reward amount goes poof sooner than expected and the interest was in at 20% but not so much at 5%.

20% up to $1250 in spends, 5% after that up to 5k
Based on the terms I still think it's $250 CB points total during the promo period, regardless of when you purchase within it.

I do not think this means you can get $250 during special promo and then 5% on another $3,750 spent.

I think this part "The Offer allows Eligible Participants to earn PayPal Rewards Points ("Points") equivalent to 5% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases during the Offer Period up to $5,000 spent." means that the max cash back points you can earn during the entire promo period is $250.

That line is basically telling you what the max points you can get and defines it as 5% of $5,000, or $250 in point value. It says "Offer Period" which is October 6th to Dec 31st. The whole promo which includes the special 20% offer period within it from Nov 17 to Dec 8.

I think u need to more specific when you say accumulated. Does it mean (1) its in pending status or (2) its posted after pending status?

worse the older I get and I was bad at math to begin with! I'm just lucky it works out most of the time. I was not eligible for this so one less thing to worry about.
Hey there ole Monkeybiz! This was about as exciting as our RingPlus days when you were beating me to the punch. Boxing Unfortunately, after 3 Pay in 4 purchases, which still show successful points pending, PayPal cut me off for unusual activity due to Walmart's automated security system canceling two additional purchases I attempted in a row.

Notice I'm still using your old avatar. lol

Was checking this morning and it showed an $800 limit after I paid off one of the payin4. Now I cannot see anything in the app. Did they cut me off?

I'm still trying to find out why at all these merchants that offer Paypal, not one of them offers me a 'Pay Later' option.

Only thing I can think of is when I added the offer to my Rewards, I had all my credit frozen at all 3 credit bureaus. Then when I decided to try the offer, I unfroze all of them.

I would think it would check with your credit when you went to use it. Would it check when you put offer in your acct in Rewards? If so then that would make sense as to why I'm not getting the offer.

I called Paypal to see if they knew why I couldn't get any Pay Later offers at any merchants and only thing they could come up with is maybe a restriction on my acct. I should have none. I owe nothing, have excellent credit and a zero balance in Paypal.

This guy was from overseas. I asked him if he could check my acct and see if any restrictions and he said he wouldn't know. I asked if anyone would know and he said that info. isn't available to Paypal. Do what? lol.

I will once again call Paypal tomorrow.

hey there.. those were the good ole days. But it was that $99 HP touchpad that got me started on flipping stuff. So I can't get too upset about gaming the system, still stickin' it to the man. Peace and Love!Cool

The freezing of your credit shouldn't be an issue. When I had mine frozen at first, PayPal sent me a message as I mentioned here:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=180390025&postcount=1419

And I was then able to unfreeze it and attempt using it again, and it worked.

But they have some algorithm in use for all this, and it locked my Pay in Monthly out first, and then later my Pay in 4. And now at least 3 days since the Monthly and 2 days since the Pay in 4 cut me off, I still have neither option and have points pending in limbo from 2 canceled transactions (no actual points show). I was able to complete 3 purchases before I lost Pay in 4, so it wasn't a total loss for me. Disappointing, nonetheless I couldn't use it more.
